I'm hoping Frank Lampard's Coventry go up. I don't expect them to do any better, but at least it's a relatively new team in the PL as they haven't been there since 2001 so unless you're at least 30 years old you won't remember them being in the top flight. Plus there will be a few local derbies with Villa, Forest and Wolves.
Just had to correct it. The media will be fuming 😉3 -
Got a soft spot for Cov, went through similar to us, ownership/ground issues, and was one of the few fan groups to publicly back us against Roland and had the joint protests. Hope they do it.Chris_from_Sidcup said:If Sheffield United go up it's going to be so boring. They'll get about 15 points and be straight back down.

Bristol City supporters at full-time looked like chumps who'd turned up at the wrong party. Please, please, do not let that be us on Sunday/Thursday.1

I've quite liked Coventry ever since they won the 1987 FA cup final as it was the first one i remember as a kid and afterwards trying to reenact Keith Houchen's diving header in the garden!twiggyaddick said:

Coventry was also the scene of one of Charlton's greatest ever away days in my lifetime.2 -
If that is a foul and a red card dismissal, why isn't there a penalty and multiple dismissals at every corner?Callumcafc said:
While that’s all very true it’s kind of irrelevant to the actions of the defender which are clearly an attempt to play the man and not the ball, a foul and a red card dismissal.SporadicAddick said:God knows how the holding from the city player causes both the united players feet to simultaneously drop away.
One of those where modern commentators would say, "he felt a touch and was entitled to go down".
Sadly, as judged by the comments on here, cheating and deception is now an accepted part of the game.
The Sheff Utd player didn't go down because of the hands on, he went down because its now acceptable to cheat.
He could have stayed on his feet and got a shot away. If he had been unsuccessful, the ref could then have awarded a penalty.
I actually agree it was an offense that could have resulted in a penalty if the advantage was not secured - I just get pissed off by the way they are secured.1 -
Part of the contract they have with the EFL is that all the playoff games of all 3 leagues are live on Sky0

I’ll second that. I think it’s my favourite ever FA Cup Final and it was a ’Roy of the Rovers’ goal.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

I have a feeling about Coventry this season. I think that they could upset the odds. Tonight's match should be very entertaining.0 -
Let's hope both Coventrys win the playoffs.6

It’s funny how your formative years are just that.I always think of Coventry City, Norwich City, Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday as top flight mainstays. And of Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur as great cup sides. Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton as the big clubs. Manchester United & Leeds as floundering sleeping giants.
At least some of those are still true I guess.1 -
I'd be fully behind Coventry winning the playoffs if Frank Lampard wasn't there. The media will make it all about him.3

Yeah, I dislike Frank too. His whole, humble, hardworking & dedicated pro persona. Bloke is pure evil.cafcnick1992 said:I'd be fully behind Coventry winning the playoffs if Frank Lampard wasn't there. The media will make it all about him.7 -
Is Frank in charge at Coventry, I hadn't realised. He kept that one quiet.cafcnick1992 said:I'd be fully behind Coventry winning the playoffs if Frank Lampard wasn't there. The media will make it all about him.

The media jump at things that make headlines. IF we win the play offs, then plenty of the media will make it about Jones and his redemption after Southampton etc.cafcnick1992 said:I'd be fully behind Coventry winning the playoffs if Frank Lampard wasn't there. Apparently Bristol City tried to have the ref changed for last night's game because he'd sent off 4 players in games involving them this season and 6 reds in his last 12.0 -
Whether it’s a red card or not purely comes down to whether you believe Dickie attempted to play the ball or not.
I believe he did attempt to play the ball, after he’d already pulled back the forward by putting both his arms around him / over his shoulder first.2 -
Sunderland look like a team that had the Play-Offs secured for so long, so took their foot off the gas, and now cant get their form back that put them in the Play-Offs in the first place.
They lost their last five League games, so hopefully we'll see similar from Wycombe.2 -
Cov vs Sunderland has been an absolutely awful game so far. Like watching 2 drunks fight outside a Wetherspoons5

That’s why it’s been fun to watch.Pelling1993 said:Cov vs Sunderland has been an absolutely awful game so far. Like watching 2 drunks fight outside a Wetherspoons
Also feels like an actual fight might break out before the end of the game. Bit feisty on both sides.0 -
Can’t see either of these bothering the Blades, awful game.
So bad I’ve switched to watching my Ulster not come out for the 2nd half as they haven’t all season 🫣😩🙄0 -

WOW - The Play-Offs are really here now0

Is the Sunderland keeper a competition winner? He’s absolutely awful 😂 not been within 2m of any cross he’s tried to come and claim1
-
He is a Sunderland supporter so maybe on purpose. Even though he has been poor, few chances created by Coventry.Pelling1993 said:Is the Sunderland keeper a competition winner? He’s absolutely awful 😂 not been within 2m of any cross he’s tried to come and claim0 -
You dont want to be doing THAT in the Play-Offs!!0
