Grew a new, strong dislike for Wycombe. How are we competing with a club that can't even sell out a play-off semi in a tiny stadium? And some of the 'tackles' yesterday were like those angry geezers at Sunday League who'd rather kick someone than play the game.
Gillesphey was superb, what a player he's grown into. There was a moment around 76 minutes where we looked in real trouble, and he shifted inside and cut out their pass with a great tackle. He was a titan.
Midfield disappointed again. I continue to be frustrated by Berry's propensity to be anonymous on a semi-regular basis. Still not sure what kind of player Docherty is. He's not done enough this season, IMO. Coventry does a decent job, but was putting simple balls into touch yesterday, and that only added to the game's nervous edge.
With Small off the pitch, it put a lot of pressure on TC to produce. I don't think he's got that 'big game player' mentality yet. He looked super nervous, hence standing on the ball and tripping over.
We'll have more space at The Valley but we need our key players to show more composure or it will be another scrap.21 -
If Wycombe manage to go a goal ahead (like Burton did), we could be in for a game similar to the first leg.
I hope the (minority) of overly confident fans don't lose their confidence and voice at that stage.9 -

Although I’m surprised at the low attendance that Wycombe had at home, we had just under 15,000 against Shrewsbury 7 years ago in the play off first leg. We’re not really ones to talk are we?9

It does seem really hard to grow football fanbases in "new" areas, away from the football heartlands.
Wycombe have had decent success for 20 years as an EFL club, yet still get small crowds. MK Dons are an even more extreme example, made more obvious by their massive stadium.2 -
I am not at all sure that Wycombe have anything more positive to offer regarding their current playing style than we saw yesterday ……..whereas we most certainly do.
UP THE ADDICKS.👊👊👊2 -

Again some others have made this point, but Gillesphey was absolutely superb last night. He was composed where he needed to be, aggressive on and off the ball and won every header from memory.
At the start of the season as everyone saw he was inconsistent and confidence was low. Now alongside Godders and Jones he is the first names on the team sheet. Probably the best I've seen him play for us last night. Fearless.
The tosspots from Wycombe I sat next to talked about our back three being very good, singling out Gillesphey especially as a very composed defender.11 -

Next Thursday, we will have as close to 27,111 as possible (minus the ones we've lost from safe standing).2 -
Grimmer - a case of nominative determinism if ever there was one - was a filthy, balding c**t. His double assault of TC was a red card if VAR was being employed.

I think we need to remember that Wycombe have been above us for the vast majority of the season and all this 'how are they allowed to be playing us' stuff is a bit out of order. There is no guarantee what will happen on Thursday night and I wonder if one or two of ours might get a little spooked by having a big crown full of expectation.6

Bloody stupid rule if the FA can't overrule the ref and issue retrospective reds for both Kone and Udoh, two thugs and not footballers in the real sense of the word.
We can all see that the assaults were deliberate and so where's the problem in getting the right punishment sorted, we could have seen Ramsey seriously injured with a ruptured achilles...
Rules eh...🤷♂️4 -

Ultimately as much as we are in a very strong position, it ain’t going to be easy Thursday. But lucky we have Jones as manager who I’m pretty sure won’t be concentrating on the amount of fans that Wycombe have or the quality of their stadium.4 -

Dodds has only won 7 of 19 games there, and they've only scored 6 goals in their last 10 games. If Bloomfield was still manager, i think Wycombe would've gone up instead of Wrexham.4 -
Bigger crowds guarantee absolutely nothing. Leeds, Derby and others are case studies of that.
It’s all about what the players do on the pitch.9 -

It would be like Manchester United fans moaning that some team from the nether regions of Sweden ‘only’ brought 10,000 fans to a Conference League Final in Rome etc. Well, maybe don’t end up in the Europa or Conference League then.
Surely it is more embarrassing that we have been the divisional rivals of the likes of Wycombe, Crawley and Stevenage for the best part of 15 years now.Let’s put them & two more clubs that have played non-league in recent history to the sword before getting all high and mighty.6 -
Couldn’t understand why we didn’t change our throws into their box.1

AFKABartram said:for those watching at home be grateful you were not there and thank your lucky stars your ear drums missed out on the 1986 MegaDeath album we were subjected to at half time. The most bizarre show of half time music ever played, particularly given setting and fanbase. My ears are still badly ringing this morning.
Bizarre place Wycombe.
Brilliant interval music. Especially 'No easy way out' by Robert Tepper. Very literal as there really is no easy way out of Adams Park3 -
