Gutted we didn't get to watch pens, but I'm actually happy for Sunderland, got a bit of a soft spot for them.

Real classy at Wembley and a proper footballing city. I hope they go one step further. Blades have had their time recently.

It’s funny how your formative years are just that.

I always think of Coventry City, Norwich City, Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday as top flight mainstays. And of Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur as great cup sides. Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton as the big clubs. Manchester United & Leeds as floundering sleeping giants.

At least some of those are still true I guess.
I take it you're around 60 given these views, which I endorse.

The way their fans took it on the chin twice, I hope they make it this time.
I fear Sheff United will be too strong for them though.

Sheffield united have not won at Wembley since 1925 and not scored in four play off final appearances at Wembley.

Sunderland won at Wembley as recently as 2022 (plays offs) and 2021 (papa John pizza car leasing yummy time trophy).

Can't see Sunderland beating Sheff Utd.

In terms of tonight's game, we will have a tough opponent in the final, assuming we make the final. I have a feeling that opponent will be Stockport given this is a home match and they are rarely beaten at home. I think Orient are one of the few teams to beat them at home though so who knows.

Prefer Orient, and have mates that support them, but honestly can't decide who I'd rather we face

There are pros and cons to both orient and Stockport.

Orient - will allow us to play a bit more however they have Kelman who is in red hot form

Stockport - I suspect will end up like the Wycombe game on Sunday.  Attritional football with one moment of magic or pens to seperate after a 0-0.

I am starting to get a horrible feeling about tomorrow night now (hopefully nerves) so may be a non issue.

Indeed. If we didn't get to the final and/or win, I'd like to see orient promoted. But if we got to the final, I dont know if I have a preference who we play

I slightly edge towards Stockport as Orient are a decent footballing team so I feel the Wembley pitch will suit their style.  Plus Kelman is bang on form and Orient have 4 ex Charlton players to break our hearts I think.  If Orient make it through I am hoping the gruel of Stockport might mean their players are not quite 100% against us.

I want Stockport , just the amount of shit kids and I’ll get if we lost to Leyton fucking pissy Orient will be too much to take and I’m never gonna be giving it the big one for beating a minge of a club like that , no upside
I mean we’re sloshing about against fucking crap down here in league one ffs sick of it
I think we have more chance against Stockport than o’s

I hope if we win on Thursday we don’t act like some of the muggy Sunderland fans giving it to fat frank and co

I love watching some play off filth but being part of it makes me feel sick , funnily enough once I’m there watching the game live it’s still horrific but not as bad as I feel in the time before and in between games .
I can’t wait for this to be done (hopefully with a Wembley win) cos until it’s done I do feel a bit ill and sick with tension , as Afka mentioned in another thread , a lack of sleep (even more so than usual) and I can’t think straight cos all I’m imagining is failure and the shame yet again of being a joke club in league one where you receive pity for being so shit fffs

If we were to get through I’d prefer Orient, they play better football so the game would be better. They would also leave more gaps for TC and Small and I love the idea of Godden up against REG

Was actually looking forward to penalties...as a neutral really find them exciting...not if it Charlton!
A last minute winner is exciting too though.

Words to come back and bite me, but dont see the problem with Kelman, we dealt with him at Brisbane Road... Its Olaofe for Stockport who we struggled to manage in the second match

Stockport are a better team than Orient. Orient would have a lot more support at Wembley though, with lots of West Ham and Spurs types in their end.
  • They both looked strong on Saturday, especially Stockport. Hoping to see some signs of weakness, from whoever the winner may be.

Stockport. When we played Orient in the FA Cup and gave them extra tickets in the East stand (about 5k in total ?). They sold their tickets to people that weren’t fans and bitched we should have given them more because their fans didn’t all have tickets. Can see Wembley would probably be the same scenario if they got there because they don’t have that many fans. Stockport obviously don’t have that many fans either but a) we don’t have a history of them bitching; and b) they are probably less likely to want their full allocation for the final.

Where as losing a final to Stockport who were in the National League North just 6 years ago would be so much better?
