Although not very active, the threat of TC (and TS) kept their defence quite deep. Clare won't be looking forward to the match-up.
I think Mannion had both of Ramsay's blocks covered.
Defence was superb to a man.
Chuks seemed more mobile than recently; could we squeeze him into the starting lineup somehow?19 -

That could be because of the many years of utter dross we've suffered in the recent past, but the air crackled with something I haven't felt personally before.
I think there's a togetherness about the manager, players and fans that hasn't been around for a while, and that might be what feels different. It feels to me like the old Charlton with something extra that reflects the end of the fractious period of mis management and fan protests maybe?
Godden's comments about the atmosphere in his post match interview as well, really proved how much of a difference we can make as a fanbase.
Once the goal went in, it went off the scale.8 -
Seeing a fair few Wycombe fans saying we embarrassed ourselves, personally I have no idea what they're talking about

Macronate said:Not the greatest game but strangely enjoyed it nonetheless.
Atmosphere was unbelievable and when we scored, I thought the roof was going to come off.
I'm trying to show some humility here and I'll probably get caned for this, but what I will say from my vantage point in lower AC (not my usual seat) is that the Wycombe fans were excellent in terms of their singing and getting behind their team pretty much throughout and that they certainly played their part in 'adding' to the atmosphere. That's what you want in a game of football and whilst you're not going to get it at every game, my God, it makes nights like that all the more special. One I won't forget in a long time.
On to Wembley.Shame, we have such complete Dickheads who felt the need to jump up and down in front of them, and throw things in their section. Lads, it wasn’t big and it wasn’t clever, no it didn’t make you look hard…. It made you look pathetic little wankers…. I look forward to the same individuals giving it some down the Den next season. In fact I will look after your coats, as you go for it……..14 -

Chuks is not to start a match. He is only to be used as a substitute. Anything else will lead to malfunction & the manufacturers will not be liable.3 -

Other observations;
Gilbert's dead ball delivery was not poor, they were just bigger than us for balls in the air.
Final has VAR, it would have served us well in last few games with poor decisions going against us.
Likely to be warm at Wembley like our last two appearances. I think our superior fitness and physical management will play a part.
We need to draw a line under our lsst terrible opponent and cut out the head tennis.4 -

Aneke has a role to play at Wembley and it’s coming off the bench.13 -

What a club. I was so despondent around everything football this time last year but I'm head over hills with Charlton again.0 -

But better than lobs from Berry that take an age to come down and are easy to defend.1

It will be interesting who makes the bench for Wembley.I doubt NJ will be sentimental towards anyone such as Hylton given he is so ‘invested’ shall we say. But seems to me a lot to play for in training this week for some of the squad and youth particularly.0

Last night really was why following football is so wonderful. The atmosphere before, during and after. The build up. The effort of the players. The tribalism. The joy of winning.
From a personal point of view I am lucky that I am currently in the middle of 3 generations of my family who go, we got a wonderful selfie after the game of all of us.
For the kids it was their first real experience of Charlton success that they remember. My boy ran on the pitch in time to congratulate and hug 5 players and in the way home declared it the best day of his life. My girl immediately said she would be skipping her cub camp to go to Wembley, and my nephew celebrated the goal by kissing the badge on his Charlton top and, overcome with emotion, shedding a tear.
A memorable evening. My hope was to head to Wembley with them all so I was way more nervous last night than I will be on the 25th.

How many has Gilbert scored?
Or, maybe, you don't think goals are that important for an attacking midfielder?
In which case, Frank Lampard was the worst attacking midfielder in history...1 -

Berry has that finish from outside the box, Gilbert has the better killer pass. For me, if fit , Berry starts.I also think NJ trusts Berry in the bigger games than Gilbert5

I think Rich Cawley shared the video but the roar when the players first emerged from the tunnel was class

I said on that match thread that I was hoping for a HT sub, Pearce on as caretaker for Jones.
Shows I know bugger all!
I'm sorry Nathan!1 -

I was in the East Block F and there was lots noise, clapping and singing. Again led by the Covered End.2 -
