    I think we've been here before but, given this is a prep for the India series coming up and he hasn't had a bat for almost half a year, Stokes should really send himself in to bat next.

    When you get a match like this where everyone is scoring for fun you always seem to get one batsman that misses out.
    I thought it would have been Pope but he's doing OK.
    Someone will probably fail though.

    Highest 1st day score is 506  - England v Pakistan in 2022. Before that it was 494 - Oz v SA in 1910 !  Oz also got 482 in 2012, again against SA and 475 in 1934 against England.  

    Currently we are going at roughly 5.5 per over. If....and big if.....we face all 90 overs today then we are on course for 495. 

    But slow over rate 🙄 means even if we finish at 6 30pm we might only face 85 or 86 overs.

    We've not yet reached the first new ball of the Year summer. England have entertained with a thoroughly convincing four hundred and plenty. Records have been crashing all day. And yet we've already had the first moan about over rates.

    At this rate, every player will get a century !!

    On a serious note, I guess it depends on the weather tomorrow. If game is not disrupted, could declare around 700 to 800 (or even 600) and as someone said earlier, not have to bat again. But I guess it depends on the bowlers and how long they can go on for...

    I have been a critic of Pope in the past but some of these shots have been exquisite. You can only play what's infront of you.
