Brian Bennett is only 21 and has looked very impressive. He has a twin brother, David and both played for Zimbabwe U19s but David has never played a pro game as far as I can see. Brian bowls off spin and David is a leggie in terms of second disciplines.

Zimbabwe enjoying a tremendously generous buffet rocking along at 5rpo
Aided and abetted by village fielding from Root among others
Bowlers delivering no consistency in line or length
Josh Tongue his own worst enemy, 12 overs in, finally comes up with a wicket taking ball, Pope takes a blinder but Tongue's overstepped by a distance
Captain Stokes will need to be back on the sauce in a big way tonight 😡😤😠🤬

Bashir is bowling well. Seems that people on here know better than Ben Stokes.

India and Australia are still going to hit him all over the shop.

Can’t see Sam Cook getting international wickets bowling at 76mph

Atkinson was trash all day then got a boost from getting to bowl at some of the most tailendery tailenders of all time

And followed that up by getting rid of Zimbabwe centurion.
He bowled well at the end of the day

I'd say the pitch did most of the work there

Atkinson is an interesting one .  I worked with him as an U15 - no sign then he would be international class .  He bowled well last summer but his pace is down and his action looks less smooth than it did .  He needs to learn some new tricks to be a full time England player , in my view .

Atkinson I didn't think has even looked that good in County cricket this season for Surrey, watched most of the game with Sussex and he bowled a lot of no balls and just short stuff.

I've got to be honest when he was first picked to play for England I was surprised as I didn't think he was good enough.
But ever since his test debut he has looked the part.
Some players when picked for England just don't make it and get dropped.
But Atkinson took to Test cricket like a duck to water.
He's still only young and I can see him getting better as he gains more experience.

With Anderson and Broad now retired and Woakes getting old as well as Archer and Wood both injury prone I think Atkinson will play a major part going forward.

A real generation shift. No Ashwin, Kohli or Roshit, plus Shami injured. Interesting to not go with Bumrah, maybe they don't think he can play every Test.

Bashir getting a wicket with a crap ball. Shock

What is it with the Bashir hate. He is a young inexperienced upcoming bowler. If Stokes thinks he is good enough that will do me. Don’t you just love amateur experts.

I can see with my own eyes that he’s nowhere near good enough. His poor stats and lack of game time at county level back that up. But if stokes thinks he’s good enough…

If Cook is a Test bowler I am a nuclear scientist. Pace at 77MPH. Not going to trouble good Test match batsmen.  Bashir is looking threatening.

I've not been watching much, and yes it's a flat pitch, but it's not been a good match for the England bowlers, whose figures were flattered by the very weak Zimbabwe tail.

Another great delivery from Bashir. Bowled him all ends up. But he is not good enough, apparently.

Five wickets for Bashir. Surely some mistake. Apart from Stokes the rest of the bowlers have looked really ordinary.

Six wickets in the second innings three in the first. Well done Bashir.

He "bought" some but a couple were good balls, especially the one that took the outside edge of the leg stump & then the final wicket.
