On Tube and in town quite a lot of Sunderland, and one cultured black cat supporter at Royal Academy studying Victor Hugo’s drawings ! Calm before the Wembley Storm…on Sunday I’m heading up very early to enjoy the whole day!
Since I'm sitting on a coach headed for London, chuckling about the travails and tribulations of Sir Humph ... A season or so ago, I was at an FA Cup qualifying match, Mangotsfield v Royal Wootton Bassettt ( double o, double t double s, double t)... and got talking to some Wolves fans who'd been stranded for decades in Wiltshire and who folowed Bassett when they couldn't see the golds. The dad told me he hated Palace due to some fixture from about 1969 ...
He also told me his aunt used to provide digs for new young players assigned to Molineux. Knowing I was an Addik, he told me Humph had lodged with her back inthe early 80s; a very shy but nice and polite lad, often seen in his underpants as rested between the rigours of the early stages of his career.
I've not met Humph in person, but I do have an indelible and enduring image at slight odds from his swashbuckling crusades up the flanks.
Has the team been to Wembley yet, seem to recall seeing orient putting a clip up the last day or so where their team had gone to Wembley this week to look about
not much from us, this deliberate from Nathan
Another failure by the comms team to create a connection with the fans and build excitement for the day by filming the team at Wembley.
Have you watched the excellent 90-minute Charlton TV preview?
Yes, and it’s mostly good (if not a bit long). There are multiple ways to engage and build excitement and it really seems Charlton are not investing time and money on the day either (Leytons fan zone will look much better than ours, with decent investment made by their club).
Lots of great things being done by the Charlton community this week which could have been capitalised on to build the narrative and create a connection with minimal effort.
You're trolling now right?
"Club comms haven't done enough to create a connection with fans"
Club creates a 90-minute preview show all shot on location at Wembley with ex-players and fans.

"It's mostly good, but it's too long"
I won’t watch anything created by a club who refuse to “invest” properly in our fan zone.
Put them marginally collectively more dangerous going forward than us, put us quite a bit more stronger than them in defence and midfield about even. Will be tight but think the last 15-20 including stoppage time will see us boss them to secure the win.
Whole family taking our minds off it and trying to speed the clock with a Mission Impossible & LILO & Stitch double bill, a meal wedged in between.
I am remarkably calm as I was for Wycombe and trust one thing more than anything - Nathan, his coaching staff and this squad will do everything within their power to win this game. Our passions, our direction and togetherness are aligned as one!

So let me get this straight, you are lording up the the fact that Leyton Orient are spending loads of money on their fanzone and we're apparently not (despite no evidence whatsoever either way) and also complaining that the stuff we did put out is "good but too long"
I for one am glad that the club aren't spending loads of money on a one-off Fanzone, particularly if it means they are bringing along all the stuff we already use in our current, permanent Fanzone, that's already good enough, and will introduce some of it to a wider audience that might enjoy it and use it on a more regular basis on normal match days.
However upon reading your posts, you are either a WUM, a troll, or won't be happy with anything the club actually does

Beyond what I have posted regarding comms this week, would be great if you could point me towards where I have criticised the club.
I just feel this is an opportunity to show 20-25k non-regular supporters how great it is to be a Charlton fan. The club did a great job with the semi final (maybe increasing my expectations) but the final preparations seem half arsed and cheap.
I want us to convert more people to fans who come to valley and we have more nights like the semi final.
I will stop my complaining now and return to my usually positive self.
Is it just me or is anyone nervous like cant sleep at the moment. Crazy after all the years following this club it would effect me this way.
Can hardly think of anything else at the moment. Its almost i want it done and dusted either way so i can move on with my life. Us coming out on top of course.
When your morale, close relationships and mental well-being, for the next few months, are entirely dependent on Charlton winning a football match, it's time to be nervous..very nervous.

It’s all encompassing, but then it’s always been like that for me. I dream about it overnight. I check this fucking site every 10 minutes.
Also looking forward to a break Hopefully with us preparing for the champ
Have just watched the Sky EFL play-off preview. I can’t believe that all 4 pundits (Hinchcliffe, Goodman, Davies and McAnuff) have gone for an Orient win even though they spent a good 10 minutes pointing out Orient’s frailties at set pieces and crosses… Let’s prove them wrong!! COME ON YOU REDS
this is my first post apart from saying i will wear the 1947 cup final shirt. my father took me first time to the valley in 1953 and since then i have experienced the highs and lows of followingthe addicks and you know some of the lows have been accute in the last few years . I saw the 7-6 huddersfield game but also cried all the way home when we lost 4-3 to blackburn in 57 i think it was, only needing a draw to go straight back to league 1 as it was then. Im very nervous about sunday but that comes from seasons of disappointment , what I will say is I think that what the manager has brought is hope , hope for a brighter tomorrow irrespective of sundays result for the club /team/supporters. Play offs area lottery , a slip a missed chance an off day and its done . I will continue to follow the reds robins addicks whahtever, whilst there is still breath in me . Really really hope and pray for our win ., none of this " I just want to enjoy the day. I want us to win " for all our sakes
best post on the thread
Spot on. Sums up my feelings and hopes also, to a total T. COYA!!!
Expecting a very tight game and bear in mind we’ve never won a playoff off final by more than one goal. Hopefully we can do it, the only consolation is if we don’t do it, I’ve a new ground to visit next season, that being Cardiff, as I had a match ticket, then lockdown came. COYR.

If you mean 'Hype', I can do without it. What happens on the pitch is all that matters.

Mangotsfield won 2-1.

Saw a post somewhere about not supporting the club properly anymore because of a lack of investment in a fucking fan zone.
Even the Matt Spring derby or the Steve Dixon derby or the Bradley Pritchard derby or... too many to mention.
It's a sign.
Little one excited for the game! Obviously ain't going but excited all the same!
