Laurie Evans is making his debut for Dartford in the second tier of the KCL today at Leeds & Broomfield which isn't the biggest of grounds even by club standards. Perhaps the right day for a Leeds & Broomfield bowler to pull up lame in the warm up!0

Gravesend fielding a decent side in Division 1 . Sikander , Paul and Lee can’t be cheap.0

Two of the contenders for promotion to the Premier League, Bickley Park and Sevenoaks Vine, met in what turned out to be probably one of the best games of club cricket I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing.
Vine won the toss and elected to bat - former England opener, Nick Compton, helped himself to 111 ably supported by Evert Bekker (75) and Luke Schlemmer (40) as the Vine posted 271-3. Despite that, there was, perhaps, just a bit of a feeling that, having been on 152-0 with almost 20 overs still to go, the chase might have been even more daunting for Bickley.
Following an early loss, Saf Imtiaz (29) and Elliot Hooper (64) took the score to 91. All of the BP batting line up then chipped in but steadily lost wickets in doing so until the 9th wicket fell with the score on 243 and Bickley still needing 29 to win. Step forward the Bickley number 9, Shehre Zeb (53*), who succeeded in taking the game to the final over with 5 still to win. A dot, then a boundary followed by another one from Zeb and Bickley were home. What a game!

Clubs have had seven months to source, if necessary train someone up to do the scoring and if required offer something by way of an enticement to do so.

Not that I get involved in scoring (can’t concentrate enough for that, two 3 ball overs couple of years ago 🤦♂️ too busy talking shit) I’ll do umpiring instead .
Our lot have struggled a bit with play cricket , simple enough as it is but apparently their servers or whatever it is are out of date , just maybe the ECB can put some of their new found wealth to good use .Yesterday ones set 191 all out in 42.3 overs and Great Waltham were getting to it comfortably and needed 10 off 5 overs with 4 wickets left before 4 wickets in 7 balls left them 7 short !
Our twos chasing 185 looked well set to cruise it but the last 7 batsmen contributed 28 runs for 6 wickets and we fell 18 short with 13 balls left .. fear not I’ll be available again next week , heavier than ever , having dropped a catch last week , I never drop catches unless my eyes are gone and they have a bit now , eye surgery wearing off (I was too old and warned it wouldn’t last too long , next stop maybe contact lenses ) couldn’t play yesterday1 - Sponsored links:

had the honour of captaining the first ever fifth eleven that Kings Langley CC has put out in more than 189 years of existence. My 12-year old bowled 8 very decent for 0-30 while the other opening bowler’s mixed bag got him 8-40!
Chasing 136 to win we were 43-3 when I went in and hit a nice 51 not out to see us home.Hoping we both get promoted to the 4s next week!4 -

Bickley Park travelled to Folkestone and managed to land the spoils by the relatively close margin of 14 runs.
Bickley were put into bat and given that they were 100-1 off 20 overs, they really should have mustered more than their 233-7 off 50. Despite Folkestone being 64-1 off 10 overs, Bickley were always in a reasonable amount of control or until such time as they took their foot off Folkestone's throat in an attempt to give a couple of players who hadn't had an opportunity to do much a bowl anyway. Eventually, Folkestone were 216 all out with 8 balls to go. A special mention to last man out, young Theo Coombs of Folkestone, who is in the Kent age group pathway, for a fine knock of 67 off 82 balls.
So Bickley are one of three teams that are two from two and they meet another, Whitstable, next week in what is sure to be a good game especially as their opponents scored 306-5 off 48 overs to beat Canterbury yesterday which followed their 389-7 the week before against Broadstairs.0 -
Bickley Park hosted a decent Whitstable side, albeit one that was missing two or three of their bowlers - in fact, although Jaydn Denly was absent along with Ethan Saggers (son of Martin) they still had players related to others of a certain calibre in the shape of Harry Fulton (son of former Kent captain, Dave), Corey Flintoff (son of ex-England skipper, Freddie), Sam Denly (Joe's brother and father of Jaydn) and Finn Carter (son of Kent Premier League stalwart, Darrell and brother of Scotland Women's Darcey). If we then add prolific hitter Buzz Gould and New South Wales Academy and 2s cricketer, Angus McTaggert and Whtstable certainly had enough in their armoury to cause Bickley plenty of issues.
With Gould on 40 (25) and the score on 59 without loss off 7.3 overs, it certainly looked like Bickley might have made the wrong decision to ask Whitstable to bat at the toss. But then Elliot Hooper took the wicket of Gould swiftly followed by those of Carter, Tegg, McTaggert and Fulton, finishing his spell with figures of 8-1-17-5. With Sam Geyer chipping in with the dismissal of Flintoff, caught at second slip, Whitstable found themselves 83-6 and although they tried valiantly to recover they were eventually 144 all out off 37 overs. Bickley chased their task with purpose and without any real issues winning by 9 wickets with 28.1 overs to spare thanks, in the main, to 69* from Ranjit Singh.
Bickley plus Leeds & Broomfield remain the only unbeaten sides in the Championship with the former off to Canterbury next Saturday and the latter having a tasty encounter the Sevenoaks Vine that day.

There's a chap that plays for GN GC GRFC (used to be called Gravesend Rugby Football Club CC) in the Kent League called Mihir Agarwal. Now given that this is his first year on Play Cricket it is probably safe to assume that he is an overseas recruit. He could well also be the same person that goes by the same name that recently played in the Big Cricket League in India with the likes of Phil Mustard, Suresh Raina, Peter Trego, Stuart Binny etc etc
Anyway, Mihir's first game was for GN GC GCRFC's 2nd XI in Division XI Knott of the Kent League (the joint 22nd tier) and he scored 205* out of 345-1 (40). Now, presumably either this wasn't recognised as a meaningful enough performance to be promoted to the first team or, more likely, that side already has an overseas. The following week he managed just 155* out of a total of 309-3 (40). Still no promotion and 104* out of 170-1 (23) followed in WK 3. That form finally proved to be too good to ignore and finally on Saturday he made his 1st XI debut in Div 4 (the 6th tier) and his contribution was 127* out of 237-8 (50).
So Mihir now has 591 Kent League runs but no average and almost double the number of the person in second place out of well over a thousand cricketers that have played this season. The question is, of course this - will he get to keep his place in the first team?

But seriously - absolutely ludicrous he's ended up as their second overseas. How does that happen?! They surely aren't paying him wedge to play over here for a Div 11 side. I cannot believe that. Maybe he's just randomly found a club and is working over here now or something.0

Both are from Australia where there are, as far as I'm aware, no such restrictions. Certainly my son played first grade with two other English players, at times, in the side without any issues. All he received by way of "payment" was playing kit to wear!0 -
