A few bitter on there but overall not got a bad word for orient and thought it was a bit out of order when we gave them a chorus of your support is fing shit' - to an extent,  their a smaller version of us - friendly, nobody got a bad word to say about them (other than palace and a few millwall) and that's coz their mostly a decent bunch - its not their fault they don't have the support so hats off to their loyal fans and for why they support - local team, local supporters - give me them over your big club glory boys any day of the week. We did what we do yesterday and that is what you have to do in league 1 when 75% of your away games are played against small clubs with small pitches who just want a battle - next year, we'll see more football played i'm sure.
To be fair, that chant was more about the lack of singing. You don't need 40000 to make a noise, a hardcore of 1000 can make a racket. Barely a song from them all game.

Stockport aren't a big club, but their home end made a right noise when we played up there.

I definitely think they'll be lower mid-table at best next season unless they can work wonders in the loan market again.

They scored 75 goals in the league and play offs. 40 of them scored by players who won't be there next season. That's a lot to replace.

In their defense, I would have been absolutely livid with that ridiculous delay from the ref had we been 1-0 down.

If the teams/performances were reversed in that game, I am sure we would have been just as negative about them on here. Would be lots of comments about ‘I wouldn’t want to watch that type of defensive football all season’

but it was OUR defensive masterclass and they wouldn’t have benefit of seeing the rest of the season and understanding we just did the job we had to do.

I was livid at 1-0 up. Levels of stress went through the roof thinking about injury time. I guessed 13 mins, so thankfully 11 wasn't too bad.

  • Let them have a moan, I would in the circumstances.

Not a bad word to say about the Club or their fans, in the words of this forum "proper"

Yep, I was cursing the ref on the match thread, but at least we had the commentators explaining what the hell was going on.

That extra 10 mins or so of extra stress and anxiety sent me into overdrive. Was an absolute wreck by the time the clock hit 100 minutes.

Can't explain how I felt in that 100th minute. It all felt too good to be true and I was waiting for the sucker punch.

When that whistle went 5 years of misery left my system. I really hope it wasn't all for nothing and we just stay here now. I'd hate to do it all again.

Pure elation when the whistle went. I grabbed the stranger next to me., and nearly broke his arm in the excitement. Then turned to my mate and went even madder. Once things had died down a bit apologised to the stranger on the left. He took it well thankfully. Was about twice the size of me 😄.
All that stress turned to adrenaline. Amazing day.

I was nervous but had this weird sense of calm for most of the match once the goal went in. My son said I looked like a nervous wreck all game  🤣

I can get why they’re bitter. If we’d lost that match I honestly think we’d have gone up automatically the next season but they will have been looking at their loans and the way the season went and thinking it’s now or never. They could be up there again or fighting relegation next season and it sucks when you have such an unexpectedly good season and end up with nothing to show for it. I think they’ll really struggle to replicate this season and that stress and disappointment isn’t a great feeling. I’d much rather they’d gone up with us than the likes of Wrexham

Spent about 5 minutes asking everyone around us if they knew what was going on. Mate had sky app on his mobile and worked out the ref had the comms issue.
Ironic really poor comms over a Comms issue 😄

It was ridiculous the lack of updates for those of us in the ground. I found out what was going on by checking Louis Mendez on Twitter!

Was quite surreal really, because it happened at such an important time in the game. Funiest bit on the pitch, aside from the ref sprinting off to trap 1 as Jac mentioned was Docherty playing footie with one of the Orient players. I expect to either keep the muscles moving or out of boredom. Not something I expected to see when they are rivals for a day and found it amusing how when the action stops all the rivalry drops down. Then a whistle later off they went again.

I was feeling stressed at the time too, but at the same time, I figured that with the 90 minutes running out, the situation benefited us.
Usually, when 90 minutes is up, there’s the added boost for the losing side when they see 4 or 5 minutes go up. Orient didn’t get that boost. We all knew it would be a big number, so 11 minutes was no surprise and we knew exactly how long we’d need to hold out.

Thought it should have been more added on time tbh. What did my head in was my 10yr old going "how long's left dad? How long?" Every thirty seconds for all that time! Feck off...cant you see im stressing out here lil man?!

That delay, when the ref was fudging about knocked the stuffing out of them, because at that point, I really thought they'd score.

I’ve had a meeting this morning with an orient supporter, who is friends with a board member.

his view was that we were the better team, he also said we are championship ready and they aren’t.

they had the 13th biggest budget, finished 6th and had a 13 hr drinking session at Wembley, he was disappointed by content.
    He's wrong here.

I think we are ready, as a club and the way the SMT are setting things in the right order, and with a couple of new additions, we will do ok in the Championship...imo.

An alternative viewpoint is that the 10 minute delay benefited Orient more, as it gave them a chance to regroup with the manager, and maybe would break our concentration.

After all they were the team that needed something to change, not us, and before the ref went off we'd weathered the storm, and they didn't look like scoring.

Bollocks. These things only ever disadvantage the team who go on to lose. It's the rules of football.

They can replay their semi-final while they’re at it:
