Excellent victory for Evans following on from his win over Tiafoe at Queens. Paul is a bit rusty on grass but a good win nevertheless.
Harris is making the most of being a lucky loser - reached the Semis at Eastbourne last year.
Raducanu, Jones and Burrage all lost.

Can't work out what is going on with Raducanu - never he seen her 'hit' so many complete mis-hits as she did today and not go for her shots or chase balls she would ordinarily get to. Looked like she didn't want to be there but won the first set. Impressive play from Joint, who has zoomed up the rankings this year with some impressive performances, took the 2nd with Raducanu clearly letting the set go when she was 2 breaks behind - which I know a lot of players do to save themselves for the decider.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:Excellent victory for Evans following on from his win over Tiafoe at Queens. I suspect a lot of Raducanu's problems are caused by what goes on between her ears.
She seems to come up with lots of different excuses. Not sure if it's simply because she gets more media exposure, but her excuses seem more apparent and wide ranging than others, to me.
If she or one of her team can place more emphasis upon the mental side you might see a top player. Otherwise she'll continue to drift within that middle order of the rankings, which comprise mainly of inconsistent and journeyman type players.0 -
Three Brits remain in Wimbledon qualifying - if they win today they make the main draw. Tarvet and Stewart in the Mens and Appleton in the Women's. A good payday if they make it.1

Oliver Tarvet has qualified for the main draw; he has an incredible amount of fight in him. Looks like he is going to be an exciting player. He said in his interview at the end of the match that he can only keep $10,000 of his prize money. I think this is due to the US Colleges only allowing him to keep this amount to cover his expenses. He has to forfeit the rest unless he can make up some extraordinary expenses on top of the $10,000. Can someone put him in touch with Matt Southall?1

Anyone else find it weird that they don't show the Russian (and Belarusian's) nationality. I get that this is a hang over from the start of the war on Ukraine, but it does feel odd now, especially as I'm sure Khachanov and Andreeva, have as much input into what Russia does as Jack Draper does with the UK government.Callumcafc said:0 -

Stewart fell just short, but he did well, especially as he played in the qualifying wild card tournament effectively qualifying for qualifying to get to the main tournament!2 -

Since she got the full time fitness coach she seems to had more game time and less injuries this year, hence going up the rankings.
I thought I saw she said she had received some sad personal news before her first round at Eastbourne. She didn't elaborate, but maybe regarding a grandparent.
Jack Draper made some comments a while back about having a 'bad day at the office' is difficult in tennis (and other individual sports), you can't just take a few days off/have a work from home etc. And he said some days you aren't feeling/playing your best, you don't really want to be there, or even get up in the fist place.
Yes, some are far more robust than others, but they are all individuals. Personally I've never seen anyone in tennis relentlessly trolled like she is - far worse than Katie Boulter and look how Boulter spoke out about it. But obviously I don't see everything.
She's clearly talented, unlikely to be at the very top, but bearing in mind how many ranked professional players there are, top 100 is good, top 50 even better. And she is currently top 40. Clearly they can't all be top 10 but the game needs all of them in their own way. Who knows who out of the 2500 or so ranked women will one day win a grand slam singles title - remembering that Raducanu herself has that honour and by far the majority of players never will ever3 -

It's an obvious thing to say but the stalker can't have helped her mentally. Great that WImbledon spotted him trying to buy tickets but it's a reminder to her that he's still sniffing around trying to get close to her. Regardless of any assurances she gets that must knock her and make her feel off her game2

Leaving aside her mental and physical issues I don't see anything in Raducanu's game that suggests she's ever going to challenge at the top level.
