Given that in league 1 it was almost impossible to get a drink at halftime…Covered end upper..what are the odds with a bigger crowd in the Championship…. What can be done to make the service faster… better… could start with drinks only queues… and line them up faster?

Didn’t the club do drinks only queues last year? Maybe in the West stand ?0

If you want a pint, go down the pub
If you want to watch football, go to a game.21 -
I never witnessed the beer vending machine. Did it ever get put in? Did it work well?2

They need to open another bar up there or get more taps and staff.0

Sell bottled beer instead of spending ages trying to pull a pint.
Plenty of clubs do this already.
Bottled beer is available in plastic bottles so no safety problem.
This would cut the length of queuing considerably.19 -
Used to have drink only queues when we were in the premier League. Wasn't brilliant but we had full crowds. As we went down the leagues they did away with drinks only queues. With a lot less people in the ground the queues were still as bad as when we were in the premier League. Couldn't understand why they changed it.0

Bottled beer, job done.2

Never see the point in trying to get a pint in the 15 minutes between half’s . Smacks of desperation. Drink before and after by all means .9

A nice pint gets my vocal chords oiled up and energised for a good sing whilst surrounded by the Bovril bores : ))2

we had a cart selling Bovril, tea, coffee and bottled beer and soft drinks at one stage. Used to be where the ale/betting kiosk was in the east stand. Thought that was a good idea.0

It will never improve. We have been talking about this for 20 years.7

Lightweights like me take 30 minutes to enjoy drinking a pint anyway. For those who enjoy throwing a pint down their neck without touching the sides i think a separate beer queue is needed.

Upper West v Burton was a new low. It’s like they were trying to set a record. There must be another way.3

Arsenal and Spurs have the highest matchday revenue in world football. Brings in about £30 million a season more than Palace bring in (old statistice, probably a larger amount now). They can see the value in it, and have invested consequently - they serve food drink that is of a decent standard at what most people would consider a rip off price, and service is efficient enough that everyone who wants to buy something is able to do so. They are set up to ensure that they receive every pound that there punters are willing to spend.
We serve shit food and drink at a rip off price, plus you have to leave your seat at least 5 minutes before half time in order to be able to have time to get served and drink it. It is absolutely criminal for any business to have customers that want to spend cash and not have the infrastucture to take it off them.
I don't think it's ridiculous to suggest we could have doubled our matchday revenue last season if we'd given it the necessary thought and investment. I don't know how much the "fill from the bottom up" beer machines are that Spurs have, but I suspect they would have paid for themselves within 2 matchdays. Not at all complicated, doesn't require project managers or consultants. Surely at least one Charlton board member of the last 15 years or so has visited the Emirates or WHL at some point - why have they not returned home after that saying "that caterings good, we'll do that at Charlton in bring in a load of easy money." It's weird, I don't understand why it's such a challenge. (obviously not just us, plenty of clubs still offering rubbish product and rubbish service).16 - Sponsored links:

Anyone go to Old Trafford for the Carabao Cup game? Service was way slower there and that was at a club that are used to handling 70k+ crowds1

Everyone who wants a pint will get one28

As well as a safe standing section, a singing section I think there should be a drinking section......where all those who can't go 2 hours without alcohol can sit together.
That or I just won't get up to allow the drunkards past. Funny how they all seem to sit in the middle of a row 🤔.1 -
I can't see why they cannot pre-pour 100 pints before the first 45 are up? They know they're going to be sold.
This system works unbelievably well at the Ally Pally for the darts.3 -
