  • I would take Earthy on loan from West Ham

Pretty sure Football League World reported Carey was signing for Derby on the same day he signed for us?
    Latest from FLW:

Alfie May’s future could be outside of Birmingham City – Charlton Athletic should capitalise

That's a bit different though. That is genuinely click bait knowing it will create a conversation.

Everytime they've done the cliché "Understand x has signed for x" or the 🚨🚨 it has been right.
But them writing that does not make it their “exclusive”.
All of those accounts do that though, it is just for the impact of the tweet.

In other news, Plymouth after Brendan Wiredu.

"EXCLUSIVE: Plymouth in advanced talks over deal for in-demand Fleetwood star Brendan Wiredu"

I would have liked to see him back here still. Only 25 and played a lot of football. Good option on the bench with his versatility.

You say only 25 but never played in The Championship and if it's another league one team in for him being Plymouth then he's potentially there for another 2-3 years. If he was Championship standard then Championship teams would come in for him, and not us thankfully, we need players to come and get into the first team, not warm the bench no point signing players to do that when we need to improve on all places in the team, some more than others.
  • He’ll get a championship move. Could be us or whoever.
it might not be this window, but I’d expect him to have a fee rather than than free next summer.
Orient fans talking about their new owners but he’s not staying in L1. They needed to win the Playoffs to keep him.
Have their new owners shown any intent to get them promotion yet?
Not seen them make any significant moves yet, although they do have Reg and Clare to bang on about, oh and Beckles.

In other news. Preston fans on their forum seem to think Offiah signing for them is building pace.
They just signed a right back in Small, not sure there budget will have room for two right backs

To improve on eleven positions would cost 12 to 18 million quid, just on fees, before we get to wages. I do not believe we have that much to spend this window.

We do need competent players on the bench, especially if Jones intends to repeat the frenzied kick-and-rush (known as "chaos" at higheer levels) which brought us success in the second half of last season but would be very tiring if played throughout the season. If we sign a player to cover two, maybe three, positions at low cost, that frees funds to use elsewhere.

B S-W was a talented youngster who was let go for reasons other than his potential. He was too impatient to progress. He is now belatedly realizing that potential and is more responsible. Fleetwood think the world of his character. A late developer well worth taking a punt on. Depends how confident he is. If he thinks he cannot get further than our bench, then he will not want to come here. But if anything like the old B S-W he will believe he can achieve Championship level. We cannot have star players in every position.

Signed another one from Sheffield Wednesday before Small too. Can't see where Offiah fits in there

Very disappointing if he signs there. Going for a very fair/cheap price and improves us. Can't say we weren't interested either as we bid
Unless I missed it that FLW doesn’t mention price other than our bid and the Hudds one at £2.5m which I’d say is the upper limit of what he’s worth I think
    Galbraith:
    Hudds didn't bid £2.5m.
That was just click bait exagération.

It was more realistically reported though that they'd had a bid of £1.5m refused, topping Charlton's earlier bid of £1.3m.

    Sounds more likely to me.

And Orient holding out for 2 million

What’s the thinking then, still to come:
    Tanto Olaofe today
    Famewo
    Burke
    Offiah
    Galbraith

Would be good. I do think we need some cover for TC.
And potentially we’re still a bit light up front with Miles out.

Maybe they will play small left back where he prefers apparently and offiah can play right back or center back maybe also they might want quality and depth we should be all over this after losing small and try for atleast one of offiah and Galbraith..

Hopefully a few surprises to come, one being another striker as you say.

I think Olaofe will be the competition for TC.
Agree with this. Need another striker as the Godden alternative. Would give us decent options and allow Kanu and Mbick to go out on loan.

They’re not claiming to be itk.

Yes, they are, that is the point.  They either recycle stories from other sites or just make stuff up.

Olaofe is surely cover for TC, he is a wide player not a centre forward

I didn’t realise Miles is still out for a while.  Sorry if I missed it but does anyone know when he might be due back?  A fit Miles could really be our wildcard this season I feel!!

Swansea were after Galbraith in January so may be some substances to that. Would be frustrating if we missed out by not paying that bit more that was needed.
I think Galbraith would better value at £2M than Tanto would be at £1.5M
presuming that Galbraith wants to sign for us of course

I think he’ll sign for whoever offers him the best deal. That’s of course dependent on Orient accepting a bid.

Think there will be a few surprises, last summer for instance the Docherty signing came from nowhere from memory

Really need Miles to keep fit this year, has been unlucky with injuries but they’ve been the story of his career so far

I've mentioned before, Paterson is very versatile and would suit us well .. also, to much derision, I opined that Bannon also would do for us. Despite his age,35, he is always passionate, works his socks off and upsets the opposition .. so what's not to like?
