  • Very lucky timing for Arsenal, being charged as soon as they release him....
Mysterious they suddenly stopped negotiating a new deal a few weeks ago...
  • Partay rumours have been around for a couple of years. I'm a bit suspect of this getting released after his contract expires
  • Gylfi Sigurdsson was suspended by Everton as soon as the allegations surfaced, didn't play for them again and was never charged either.

Thomas Party charged with rape.  Arsenal shameful for having played him the last two seasons whilst he tried to use a technicality.
Agree. Just a note (that I'm sure we're all aware of anyway) to be careful what you say here and elsewhere, the last thing survivors need is for a case to be thrown out
Good advice. No doubt Partey’s legal team will be scouring this forum.

Never know who is going to be called up to be on a jury or what spurious grounds people will use to try to get off a charge, why not err on the side of caution?

Look at the Benjamin Mendy case with Man City. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

That said I'd have rather Arsenal just let him rot in the reserves for the duration than play him.

Arsenal are trying to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea. Chelsea certainly have a glut of wingers now.

Arsenal are getting a lot of stick over his situation but he was never formally charged or even named in the press (despite every man and his dog knowing), so how can you suspend someone? Bearing in mind this has been going on for 2-3 years.

    Hypothetical conversation........

Arsenal: Thomas we're very concerned what you're being accused of, and the police are questioning you, what do you have to say?
Partey: Don't worry it's all a misunderstanding, i didn't do it. If there was a case then surely the police would've charged me? I'm innocent.

Not sure the club can suspend him based on that. Perhaps they could've quietly sold him or loaned him abroad instead, but legally i don't think they could've suspended him.
  • They didn't need to play him and his manager didn't need to talk up his character multiple times though

But why wouldn't you play him if he wasn't charged with anything? He was one of their better midfielders.

That’s the moral question you have to ask. Everton did the opposite when Sigurdson was one of their best players.

Elanga on his way from Forest to Newcastle. The difference being in the Champions League makes.

He’d been outed publicly and arrested, it’s quite different.

I don't think he had, if my memory is right (and it could be wrong) everyone just worked out who it was because he disappeared completely from anything to do with the club
