  • Four people have been arrested by police investigating the cyber-attacks that have caused havoc at M&S and the Co-op.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) says a 20-year-old woman was arrested in Staffordshire, and three males - aged between 17 and 19 - were detained in London and the West Midlands.

All four were arrested at their homes in the early hours of Thursday. Electronic devices were also seized by the police.

One of the suspects - a 19-year-old man - is from Latvia, the rest are from the UK.

  • Cyber attacks that disclose personal data and also cost companies millions of pounds really should carry a prison sentence.
It's getting worse and worse and happening more often.
    Tougher sentences are long overdue.

This is the sort of age group we need to recruit for the front line of the grey zone v Russia, China and Iran.

We can't live without technology in 2025, cash is no good if there are no goods in shops because of a cyber attack. Both M& S and Co-op had supply issues linked to the cyber attack.

More aiming it at the leaked details, people only lose their privacy information cause of payments online presumably? Or something that will be linked with an online purchase like a delivery.

We definitely can live without technology, it would just be a very different style of living. Less convenient.

Privacy & Safety trumps convenience for me personally.

To quote Ben Goldacre, I think you'll find it's a little more complicated than that.
