  • Did I see the entire Surrey team bar Ryan Patel today had played international cricket with Ben Foakes at 9? Got to be one of the most stacked Blast sides ever.

Yep, and all for England bar Adam Zampa the Aussie.
  • Just beat Sussex for us now, so we can get top 4
  • The best performance  in the T20 this season.  An all round team effort.
Should also mention the women, whose batting has be outstanding this season.
  • Special mention to Dan Lawrence for taking over as keeper during both of the last 2 matches.
  • I guess the only thing that could stop Surrey winning the Blast is the ODI series with SA clash for the QF and T20 series clash for finals day? But I'd guess you'd just bring the likes of Evans and Sykes in.

I missed this. Why did this happen and why is Evans missing?

Evan’s got smacked on the finger during a game and couldn’t carry on, Foakes appeared to pick up an ankle injury against Somerset.
  • You'd think Surrey could afford a proper keeper! Seriously though, I loved the backstory to Josh Blake re-signing because it demonstrates all is not lost when you are released by a county which makes it even more disappointing that "non keepers" like Evans and Lawrence are being picked to keep in front of him. Appreciate that it's a balance issue in the T20 and that he did recently play in a CC game but was hoping he would get more opportunities than he has.

If they aren't going to play Blake I'm surprised they didn't ask Sussex for Oli Carter on loan. Unless Mullets are banned at The Oval?

  • Burns has also kept in t20s over the last couple seasons (but I'm very glad Sam Curran has refused to pick him this year) and a champ game this year. Blake was only really signed for the 50 over Cup and emergencies in other formats. He's played a few T20s and if both Foakes and Evans are out he will likely play the next match. But Evans whilst having not done much keeping is actually pretty decent at it and what he brings with the bat is much more than what is lost behind the stumps.
  • Good to see the Surrey thread on the front page of CL again. There are a few fans around, let's keep it there for the rest of the cricket season,
  • "We are top of two leagues, say we are top of two leagues."

  • Watched tonight on the stream was excellent game. Thought we had it in the bag until late hitting scared me and worried that our bowlers that don't usually bowl much in thos comp were relied on at key moments due to absences. But we got over the line that's what matters.

    Anyone know why no zampa?

Do not forget the women's team. Runaway leaders in the group. Guaranteed place in the final.

    Money, money, money
  • The 8 professional women's teams have the same budget. Spending dictated by the EWCB.
  • And the men's teams have the same Salary cap, with slight uplift for London so Middlesex have the same budget as us and everyone else isn't far behind.

    He's returned home.

I think Santner could return for the final if required.
  • Another night, another victory. Closed that one out well when it was looking dicey.

  • Cracking game.

Should have won easily but to win after throwing it away was exceptional.

Probably should have got 20 more with the bat, Jacks and Roy went too slow after the powerplay.

Started reasonably well. Then it was a ridiculous decision to give Majid his second. He isn't great generally. Got hit a bit in his first. Overton got smashed by 2 set batsmen the over before. It was obviously the wrong call. And when Topley, Jordan and Curran had overs left. And Tom Curran hadn't even bowled.

I'm not even sure why we are playing him. Without being harsh to the kid he was signed because we needed a spinner for the 2nd 11 and 50 over cup. With Santner and Zampa missing we should have used Jacks as the only spinner. He bowled well tonight and that's why they gave Majid a 2nd over. It was a gamble that another spinner would do just as well. Honestly we have so many quality quicks just use them, or play another batter. Zampa is apparently back for the quarters so no problem there.

But to win from that position was incredible. Sam Curran is a sensational cricketer. Jordan also finished it brilliantly.
  • Jordan needed to finish it well after his first couple of overs and for Curran not to bowl his 4 overs was criminal, Slurrey tried their best to shit on Kent but luckily it failed 😂😂

Felt sorry for Majid really even as a Sussex fan , thrown on at completely the wrong time in the game , really poor captaincy , I know Jacks was ripping it at the other end but with the depth of seam attack you've got it felt like TC or back to Topley was the far far better option. Not sure you can go into a QF with Lawrence behind the stumps.

In the end the international class of Jacks,Sam Curran and CJ got you over the line.
  • At the women's game last night. A solid win for them. I cannot see who can beat them at the moment. The batting is their strongest vertue.

Good point on the keeper. We should have Pope back for quarters and semis, we would also expect Evans to be fit and Foakes if we are desperate.

I'm told we should have Santner and Zampa for quarters and finals day which is great! We are expecting Jacks, Smith, Atkinson and Overton to be with England. Wouldn't be surprised if they call up Sam and Topley to just to screw us.
