Maddening that we let the league's top scorer go just to sit on the bench of the likely league winners.

Selfishly, it’s better that than he be playing regularly for Huddersfield.

Benched today against Rotherham. Their manager prefers Stansfield and Dykes.
Plenty of opportunity to count his money 💰

Said it before, will say it again -

Jones doesn't like Alfie in a footballing sense that was clear when he came in. He has to live and die by his decisions.

If we are in promotion mix come next may no one will be talking about Alfie.

If not Jones faces some serious questions.

But if i was Jones id rather fail through my own methods than fail trying to shoehorn a player I don't like in to the squad.
Honestly this poster really summed things up well back in in June last year and has been proven right what a great insight this guy must have.

It really can be a curse to always be right and have to carry the burden of superior intellect, having to constantly correct my fellow fans.

Wow this guy really nailed it on the head.

I know Nathan Jones doesn't like to say i told you so but unfortunately i do. Fair play to me for being so humble though to wait close to a month to gloat, yeah fair play.

You were right about everything apart from saying “no one will be talking about Alfie May” - judging by the transfer rumours thread it seems some still haven’t let it go

You gave weekly updates all last season on how many goals Alfie May was or wasn't scoring to be fair.

Eh I stopped when we started winning games. I was doing it mostly while things weren’t looking so rosy for some balance. :-)

Dont know if he agreed, AVFC Faithful suggested they £200 if they're right, and that Alfie pay £500

So if he's leaving for Huddersfield in League One... Who is wrong, and who is right?

£500 down and an immediate 6 game ban for betting on football - pricy tweet

  • Will all the Alfie FC fans who became Birmingham fans when he left now become Huddersfield fans ?

All jokes aside, still wish the best for him. No doubt Birmingham are paying a large amount of his contract as no way do i believe Huddersfield are paying all 15k.

If May does go to Huddersfield, he will become yet another player to leave us and end up playing in a league below shortly afterwards.

Cawley saying he isn’t convinced May wants to move

Well the only way he will move will be if Huddersfield (or through a deal with Birmingham) cover his current wage, Alfie left for a variety of reasons but one major reason was the life changing contract (which he still has 2 years left on) Birmingham offered. He will either have the contract paid on a % basis by both Huddersfield and Birmingham, or (and one assumes this will be more likely should he he go) Birmingham will give him a major pay out close to what the rest of his contract is.

The truth is Birmingham needed Alfie last season to help guarantee promotion, and lets face it any team that has a player of May's ability as a squad player is likely to get promoted, but now they have a player who has never played Championship level before, is the wrong side of 30 and is likely not good enough for their ambition of getting in to the Premier League. All this said I hope Alfie will milk every single penny out of this deal and ensure he gets paid what he is owed.

If there is any truth in what Cawley is saying that May doesn't fancy a move to Huddersfield surely they are going to say sod this and move on, he has turned them down twice now!

I think he wants a crack at Championship football and that’s fair enough. Just needs a couple of injuries ahead of him and he might get a shot

No it's the villa bloke who is down.

Villa bloke said he will score 1 in the championship. May didn't specify any so technically Villa bloke loses if he goes to league one.

Let's not forget that Alfie did not feature in Nathan Jones' plans for last season rightly or wrongly. Although this did lead to us signing super Matty Godden and erm Ahadme.
