Can't wait to see how many 'survivors' from the promotion team are selected for the first few league games .. I reckon the answer will be not too many .. pity if so, BUT there you go, progress is inevitable
We’ve got to be objective and ruthless (didn’t NJ say something along those lines on the pitch after the match at Wembley). If we played the promotion team for 46 matches in the Championship we’d finish rock bottom, so there needs to be large scale changes to the starting XI.
I know that Nathan & Co have to be ruthless, just I am surprised at the number of new signings. Right now I reckon just Jones, Ramsay and Gillesphey could be left over from Wembley. Even Coventry, Edwards, Docherty and Godden (less likely) might not make 'the cut'

Jones, Ramsay, Coventry and Edwards I think will all start. Gillesphey probably.
To the tune of "It's Raining again" by Supertramp...
🎶He know's just how to read the game And find the net yet again... It's Kelman again I'm sure it's Kelman again Who else but Kelman again Of course it's Kelman Again🎶..
Do I need to get me coat...🙄
Good luck with that one. The yoof of today probably haven’t even heard of Supertramp

for me Ramsay, Jones, Gilly, Edwards, Coventry all start from last years team. The rest, who knows?
I anoint @MartinCAFC the winner of this competition to predict how many of our Wembley heroes will have their hearts broken. His prize is a bottle of Macauley Gillesphey’s tears.
Even if it’s exaggerated, given his age I expect Kieffer will be on a lot Moore than Kelman.
If that does turn out to be correct, Nixon has been more accurate this summer. Wonder if that’s his reporting improving or if he’s always had a higher Championship hit rate

I missed the Supertramp bit and at first thought you meant 'It's raining men'.
If someone had told you this time last year that Charlie Kelman and Rumarn Burrell would join Championship clubs in 2025 for a combined fee in excess of £4m, you would have laughed at them. After all, Kelman had scored 18 league goals across more than 130 EFL appearances, while Burrell had just spent the 2023/24 season playing for Cove Rangers in Scottish League One. Fast-forward to today, however, and the scenario makes more sense.
Kelman scored 21 goals (only one of them a penalty) for Leyton Orient in League One last season, picking up the Golden Boot in the process. The Basildon-born American demonstrated an ability to score different types of goals from different locations, while continuing to trouble defences by running in behind and pressing from the front. Kelman swaps QPR – where he was always on the fringes, and had less than a year left on his contract – for Nathan Jones’ industrious Charlton, a team he’ll remember well from the play-off final in May.
The 23-year-old has unexpectedly brought QPR a tidy windfall, with the supposed £3.5m fee reported to have add-ons that could take it as high as £5m, and they’ve wasted no time in reinvesting some of it. Step forward, Rumarn Burrell from Burton Albion. Burrell followed up his 21-goal season in Scotland’s third tier by scoring 11 goals in just over 2150 minutes in England’s third tier. The Jamaican’s electric pace, willingness to run and finishing prowess was perfectly complemented by Jon Dadi Bodvarsson’s aerial ability and link-up play as Burton pulled off another Great Escape.
Gone are the days of Championship clubs only forking out for strikers who have a long history of scoring goals. Any kind of history of scoring goals, even at the level below, and – crucially – the potential to score a few more is enough to have second-tier clubs very, very interested. And, at 23 and 24 respectively, Kelman and Burrell have shown they can score goals at the level below and have the potential to score a few more. A successful season in the Championship could also see them fetch far bigger transfer fees for their respective new clubs in just 12 months’ time.
Do Kelman and Burrell fit the mould of the stereotypical modern Championship striker? No, not really, but they have both shown that they can be effective through the middle and as wide forwards. That versatility, combined with their pace, work rate and PFG (potential for goals), should go some way to explaining why Charlton and QPR have put their hands in their pockets.
I feel quite bad slagging off NTT20 recently. I judged that from one video and a friends review about them.
I wanted to listen to a podcast on my 3 hour walk the other night and put in 'football podcast' and theirs popped up on Spotify, I listened to their league 1 and 2, 1-24 predictions and they were both quite excellent and done a fair bit of research.
Put my hands up there, clearly work hard at what they do and they have a real genuine excitement covering teams and players most people probably don't care about. Sorry NTT20.

I'm a recent convert too. Started listening in the second half of last season when I wanted to consume every possible bit of CAFC content out there and was really impressed - they talk about L1 with a level of depth that you very rarely get from non-fans / local Cawleys at that level

They are far and away the best at covering the EFL. I wish sky sports or the highlights show would get them back on regularly
Though if they predict us bottom 3 I take all that back!

Cant see them putting us bottom 3 they've been very positive about our business

Yeah I think they’ll probably have us maybe 16th-20th, they seem like they rate Nathan Jones too
They’ve been the best football podcast going for a long time. Much better than any other efl one. The second tier pod I think is a bit crap, neither of them really know what they’re talking about

It wasn't just that, it was the sheer excitement in their voices. Like they were actually getting excited about players I have never even heard of signed from non-League.
They clearly love it and have a passion for it, look forward to their Championship predictions, and they've inspired/motivated me to be better/do better.
I think we have an advantage over a lot of people in that League One has been our main focus. So a Millwall fan, for example, may not realise what great prospects, Kelman, Apter and indeed Knibbs are. Whereas those of us that know a bit about football will be aware of what they can offer and their great potential.

You see a few walking down the high street.
Krusty said Charlie Kelman's dad is from Texas but I have always found Krusty a clown so not sure if it's kosher 🤔
Charlie has played 19 games for the USA U20's so custard pie in the face for me.😁
You can bet your life this will not be the case for the first half of this season.
Not that I wouldn't have taken Moore here, but still, value and all that.
