In the Algarve and on news that Jorge Costa has passed.

Was only proudly telling locals this morning what a great player he was for us this morning outside a porugal football shop with his picture on the wall.

Awful.  RIP

    No way, that's awful news.

Not just a fantastic player but seemed a very decent guy.

    RIP dreadful news.

Absolutely gutted. He was only 53 as well. Way too young. What a great player he was for us.

That’s a bit of a shock, loved his time with us, he did a great job and a bit of a coup for Curbs.

    Any reason given?

    RIP

Nooo! Thats a shock. Was one of the best out and out defenders I’ve ever seen in a Charlton shirt, if not the best. In my lifetime anyhow.

Proper pro and was gutted when he went back.

RIP - hope the club does something to mark this on Saturday as he had cult hero status

    Noooo!

What a player, what a character, what an amazing icon of an incredible time to follow CAFC, probably the pinnacle of the club that the majority of us are likely to experience - and probably (comfortably?) the best centre back to ever represent the club in the modern era.

Also a part of the last ever elite generation of footballers to reach the top level based solely on talent, without the fitness and conditioning of today and with the ability to win a european cup despite apparently smoking like a chimney.

Assuming this is true - RIP Jorge.

  • Terrible news. A true cult hero and one of my earliest heroes in a charlton shirt. May he rest in peace.

    Nooooooooo.  Not the tank !

I was there for his debut at Stamford Bridge. 1-0 with Lisbie getting the winner.

Shocking news. What a player - certainly the best CB I've seen in a Charlton shirt.

    RIP Jorge
