Got to the Valley an hour before KO so thought I check out the Fans Zone for the first time. Was served within 5 mins and beer was overpriced but knew that before hand.

Can see why people use it and fair play to the club for putting this together considering the amount of pubs within 0.5 miles of the ground that have closed over the past 20 years.

Don’t think I’ll use it again back to drinking in Woolwich pre match.

Credit where it’s due yesterday. Got served quickly in the bar twice. Although the pour left a bit to be desired. Head like Humpty Dumpty on it. But you can’t have it all.

Went down half time at about 36/37 expecting hell and got served in 2 minutes.

One swallow and all that but a good start. Good luck up the arse whoever gave it.

  • Half time was a shambles. Went down shortly before half time as usual, only to be met with quite long queues and being told that they cant serve until half time. Some gibberish about licensing? Nobody seemed to have a clue from the guys in suits, and the security people had to calm a few annoyed down ! common sense says either dont open until half time, or realise that the fans bar is just an extension of the concourse areas, where you can be served before half time

The concourses you cannot see the picth from so the licence in football grounds allow the sales. The Fans Bar you can see the pitch so no alcohol can be served all the time the actual match is being played

There are blinds they can pull down though right?

There are blinds pulled down, with barriers also in place to stop you going near windows. And if that is the case, why are you still allowed to be in the fans bar a good 5-10minutes AFTER the second half has started ?

Surprised Fans Bar allows that kind of action.

Fans bar was much better for getting served post match, so fair play.
  • Bartrams was pretty good yesterday. Walked up at 11:30. Got served straight away. A little wait for the second but a massive improvement.

We went in there because of the crap music being played in the fanzone. I know I am old now but surely we can get something a bit more multi generation?

Finally, did go to the fanzone for a pint afterwards. Got seved pretty quick but sadly no meantime IPA on sale (in spite of the price list indicating so).

East stand on Saturday. First time back this year. They've opened the little bar that was previously a bookies just beside g/h. Only serving black cab stout. At half time they had pre poured about 30 pints that just needed topping up. I was shocked at the competency and the stout tasted not to bad.

    How the other half live!

Much cheaper prices in the VIP bar.

    How is this fair?

@LarrysMobileBar cant you sell bottled beer i.e corona extra 660 bottles, might be 630 any way if you charge £5 100% profit every one wins

There’s enough choice of dishwater already. Bottles of real ale at the right temperature is what’s needed… 😉😆🍺
Just out of interest, what brand would you like ?
Just caught up with this. Nice easy session ale like Hogsback T.E.A. would be my suggestion, Larry.

Except this is probably from the 90’s! (I’d imagine just after the return).

Yes, early 90s. Part of a donation to the museum of items from that era from a then member of staff.

Believe the VIP Bar was a portacabin in the car park.

The VIP bit was that there were no potholes within 20 yards of the entrance.

I have a vague recollection there were some issues with calling it a PortaKabin at the time. (It wasn't - other brands of portable buildings are available) And PortaKabin got all sniffy about using their brand name inappropriately.

You can imagine us installing them and out pops something different to what you have ordered!
  • Take a leaf from QPR and give out free food and beer at half time.
