Charlton Athletic vs Millwall
Saturday 13th September 2025 - 12:30pm Kick-Off
Referee: Robert Madley
Introduction
Charlton have stuttered a bit in recent weeks havent they? - Four points from our opening two games, was an impressive return, given the step up this season. However results haven't necessarily tallied up with the performances in recent weeks. An unfortunate 1-0 loss at the Valley against Leicester, was followed up with an out of character performance at Loftus Road. We've had two weeks since that last defeat, the International Break allowing us to have a potential reset, its time though to hit the "Play" button our league campaign once more.
The Opposition
Name: Millwall (12th) - Manager: Alex Neil
Ground: The Den
Previous League Result: Millwall 0-2 Wrexham
When you're coming off the back of back to back defeats, it could be argued that the last match you'd want next is a proper local Derby... It could be even worse, we could be facing a side that has a ridiculously strong record against us... Thankfully I can't think of any team that fits said bill
On a serious note, Millwall head to the Valley this weekend having failed to defeat us in competitive action for the last five years. They also head to the Valley this coming Saturday with a bit of a remarkable record this campaign, given their reputation, you'd expect them to be strongest at the Den. However they've yet to record a single point on home soil, unfortunately they have been victorious on the road in both their away games this season, a 2-1 win at Norwich on the opening day of the season, and a 1-0 win at Sheffield United.
In terms of individuals and the obvious name to look out for will possibly be Charlton Academy Graduate: Alfie Doughty... the Wing-Back returned to South East London in the summer from Luton Town, yet was absent for the defeat against Wrexham last time out. Incomings late in the transfer window included: Caleb Taylor, who faced us in the Play-Off Semi-Finals for Wycombe a few months ago. Whilst Millwall did well to keep hold of top scorer from last season: Mihailo Ivanović who was linked away in the summer... He'll be their man danger man spearheading the attack, and scored on twelve occasions last year.
Charlton Team News
Until we hear otherwise from Nathan Jones, I imagine we come into this match with a pretty much unchanged team from the one that faced Queens Park Rangers two weeks ago. James Bree joined on loan from Southampton on deadline day, and whilst he'll be with us initially until January, its unlikely that we'll be seeing him this early... Reece Burke on the other hand was one who made a first appearance on a team sheet since the Dartford game, so will no doubt be appearing on the bench once more.
Elsewhere and there will be question marks over the involvement of our Jamaican trio, at least from the start this coming Saturday. Both Tyreece Campbell and Karoy Anderson earned minutes, as Jamaica close in one a first World Cup appearance since 1998 - On the other hand there was zero involvement for Amari'i Bell. Given the absence of the three, and the fact that they'll be flying half way around the world... You'd expect them to each be on the bench at the most for this next Championship fixture.

Comments
Am sure the OS will at some stage state which countries have International Broadcasting etc.
Also Mods... Can we keep a strict eye on any posts please... Anyone posting insane shit like: "This is our Year" should be closely monitored, and if need be, put on a strong dose of medication for delusions.
I don’t think we will change the set up for this one though. What we have been doing has worked reasonably well so far, maybe a slight tweak to more of a traditional 3-5-2 if TC isn’t able to start and Kelman goes up top with Leaburn
Hope we have Bell as I worry about Gillesphey at Championship level.
First Millwall game I will be missing for many many years so no doubt we go and win.
I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a 0-0
However, IF we are going to get anything from the game then we need to rest the players just back from International duty & play those that have presumably been working on stuff all week. So drop TC & play Tanto against his old team.
0-3.
COYA.
However, first Millwall game I won't be in ground for since '96, so knowing my luck, we win again without me.
Anyone predicting a home win must be young or mad.
Normally against this lot it would all add up to an inevitable defeat.
But not this time.
I reckon it will be a hard fought game with the ref having plenty to do , but for once I reckon Charlton will prevail.
Charlton 2 Millwall 1
Keep the faith.
COYRS!!!!
