Full time. Great battling win and final 20 mins was outstanding. Newsham POTM but Fitzgerald was fantastic and thought the mysterious Chime did well, especially if she is an U21 player
Not 100% sure about Hills' current strategy of starting the stodge and bringing on a bit of verve later but it's working so far. Can't really believe that Muya got the nod ahead of McAteer after last week but once again McAteer looked lively and Muya looked slightly lost, like a person who's gone for a Sunday walk and ended up in a limbo competition. I'm still yet to see anything at all from Thestrup which is disappointing but Fitzgerald looked lively and quick. Kenney also looks like she has a bit about her so I'd like to see her from the start soon. What is very notable is that the recruits from last season like Hutton and Newsham seem a good few levels ahead of the ones we brought in this season and we'll be very reliant on them staying fit and effective all season.
That's three times in a row now that we've beaten Durham 2-1.
Based on watching the stream, we fully deserved that - OK, Durham scored and hit the bar in the first half, but they barely had a sniff after half-time. Delighted for Gillian Kenney to get her first goal, scrappy though it was, and Charlotte Newsham did brilliantly in the build-up for both goals. I also liked the look of Janice Chimes, as she and Keira Flannery dominated the midfield in the second half.
For the second time in two games, the subs made a big difference. I guess the question for Karen Hills is whether the likes of Kenney, Chimes, Mary McAteer and Lucy Fitzgerald have done enough to earn a start against Ipswich, or whether we should stick with what has worked so far. A nice problem to have!
