Had a fairly slow start to the season with Leyton Orient last season. Scored 21 league goals and got 6 of them from August to the end of December.Clearly lacking in confidence at the moment. The chance that fell to Burke is what Kelman needs.8

I'm sure everyone including Jones and Kelman would love for him to have scored by now but we've got the results we have by setting up and playing the way NJ wants - and he wants Kelman starting.
And this is before Matt Godden returns to add even more competition up front.I was more sceptical than most when we signed Kelman, but I did think he could be a good signing for us if we played him alongside one of Leaburn, Godden or Olaofe. I think that’s the change that needs to be made to get the best out of Kelman, but it would mean splitting up the Leaburn-Olaofe partnership so Jones might view that as the wrong move0 -
Looks like it’s a while away but who misses out on the squad when Godden is fit? TC looks threatening and tires out defences, Leaburn and Tanto make a difference most matches but Kelman is the starter so would be harsh to suddenly remove him from the squad altogether0

There isn't much pressure on Kelman at the moment, as the team is doing well. It's akin to a batsman who can't buy a run, but if the team is winning, there's no pressure to change a winning team.
If we were losing, it would be a harder call to keep restricting Tanto and Miles to sub roles. Tanto in particular can feel hard done by, having not started a single league game.4 -

I thought Kelman worked his nuts off yesterday and paved the way for Tanto and Miles to come on and take advantage. Whilst it’s not broken I think we should stick with him from the start although I’d like to see him with Tanto in place of TC who I don’t think is offering enough at the moment.
Back to Charlie, I can’t remember him missing a chance where I think he should have finished that, in fact we haven’t been creating many chances for him. Others, like Burke yesterday, have missed chances where if they had fallen to Charlie I’m sure he would have tucked them away. It’s certainly far, far too early to write him off and I think he’ll come good sooner rather than later.21 -

Just needs a chance like Olaofe got at Sheff Utd, or maybe even a penalty to get off the mark.1 -

I do think kelman starting and leaburn finishing protects leaburn and helps prevent risk of leaburn breaking down - which i am for, tbh
Although dont see why we cant at least try something different like start with fullah1 -

Played well yesterday and worth remembering we haven’t created a single chance for him. There was a moment in the first half where he cleverly chested the ball to Bree who then ran through before being hacked down near the box. He’s an intelligent player and will get better as the weeks go on.3

How would Kelman not starting have improved things yesterday?
We would've won 6 or 7?
I think people are looking too intensely at some of the players instead of the sum of their parts.
And in all honesty, it really doesn't matter one jot what we think at the moment.
Jones account is in double double credit. He knows what he's doing.9 -
Lots of talk of partnerships not working, almost as if we’re not 1 point off the playoffs.9

So many apologists on here. Probably the same who stood up for Ahadme.
For the record the desired Olaofe and Kelman partnership was abysmal at Cambridge. Still I suppose Charlie was still getting up to speed, which curiously hasn't been a problem for Bree and Burke.
Also if defenders tire so much, then why are they not replaced as much as midfielders or strikers?
I'm not saying he won't come good but surely either of the other two subs should start?9 -
One thing that was said a lot when we signed Kelman was that he had similar attributes to Godden and could learn a lot from him. It's a shame that Godden has been injured all season so far because it means Kelman hasn't been able to watch him in games or pick up on what he does in training. Godden is the perfect striker for our system and knows how to exploit it after a season of playing in it after looking a bit lost sometimes at the start, Kelman could have done with rotating out with him a bit and observing1

I realise that if my auntie had balls she’d be my uncle but I think it’s reasonable to ponder that had we held on v Millwall and not suffered a fabulous effort to lose to Leicester then we would have an additional three points. That would have us second. Far from being lucky, I think we can feel a bit unlucky.3

He looked like he was putting in a big shift yesterday with not many actual or half chances coming his way. Of course, when your main striker is making a nuisance of himself in the opposition half it tends to open up chances for the non-strikers which, funnily enough, seemed to happen quite a few times yesterday, 3 of which being converted into goals. Obviously a bit unsporting of us to get our main striker to distract their chaps and, in the words of one of those chaps across the river, vile of Charlton but I can’t say I’d be too bothered if the tactic works that well until Charlie finds his scoring boots once again.1

Give Kelman time to gain experience at this level, with this team.
NJ said yesterday that once the basics are achieved, the intention will be to make the team more fluid.
Maybe signing Kelman is seen as part of that?

Similar to Apter, I'm sure once Jones feels like he has a better player ready to start up front; they will do.
Guess he prefers Kelman to Leaburn currently.0
