I’m more than happy with that result
expect a defeat Saturday, anything will be a bonus .
The graft and determination is good to see , we’re no longer a joke club in league one where fake hard ons were had after a Johnny pizza trophy win .
this is the real deal here , please no more pissing about in the lower echelons of the football league .
I’m a football snob and we belong here and above !19 -

If you can get your strikers scoring, we’d be a lot higher in the table, probably in the top 6.
If there all still on a low goals tally, maybe that’s where we need to invest in, in January?
Unfortunately we will just have to put up with the fact that we wont score many goals. Our defence is sound so shouldn't let in too many. Not a great watch tbh, but then we all wanted promotion and drawing away to Derby is a lot better than losing away to Burton....so it is what it is.
What are you expecting if you think it's not looked good mate?
It’s not a complaint because I’m very pleased to be out of League One (hopefully for many years) but I don’t see how you can find it ’great to watch.’ I think that you’re too influenced by results if that’s your opinion.
We have our moments of beautiful play like the build up to our goal yesterday, but otherwise we’re a team that play long balls in possession and bite at the oppositions’ heels out of possession. It creates a game of lots of stops and starts and generally attritional football.
I’ve watched 4 games (Watford, Leicester, Millwall, Derby (all on TV so far)) and there is little entertainment. The best was probably Millwall in this respect imo. As a spectator the feeling is akin to how Kelman probably feels playing. That’s probably the best way of describing how I feel actually: if we played to Kelman’s strengths then we’d be playing more free flowing on the ground football which is better to watch.
That said, I just want us to stay up. If we did that by banging it 1000 miles into the air 60 times a match to get 0-0 draws, 46 points and stay up on GD then it would be job done for this and next season.
We had to grind out results at times.
We've evolved massively imho this season, and are playing a better tempo, with more dynamism and end product, be it without a big goal difference, against opposition that are so much more physical, so much more technical and very seasoned to this league and from the prem, with a good handful of clubs in this league being there recently.
The gap between L1 and the champ is Colossus.
Saying there was little entertainment for the games you've watched, especially the Leicester game, is selling us well short.
We're never going to play football like man City or the like, and we may be 'industrious' at times. That's the Charlton way. We pride ourselves to work harder than the opposition , with gulie and skill thrown in for good measure. We are a club of battlers, who make sure IF we are beaten, the opposition will know they have gone to hell and back to achieve that.
This is what Charlton are all about, we will also evolve and be become more fluent as the season progresses.
I'm sure to that we will have a period of losses, as teams learn to deal with us. It's par for the course.
However, we are, and always will be, a club that is greater than the sum of our parts.
These performances we are giving, have been widely commended and praised.
If you're not entertained, inclusive of the way we've conducted our journey back in the championship after many seasons away, I wonder what you're looking for, in us.15 -
Thought TC and Kelman linked up well last night but it’ll clearly never be enough for some on here.14
-
First half was tremendous, the keeper looked like he was going to fold any time he was under any kind of pressure, so it's a shame we didn't make more of that. Over the 90 mins a draw was a fair result though.7

Weird night, Derby fans were very odd I thought outside the ground, you'd have thought they'd been relegated before kick-off. Not happy campers.
Managed to meet two of our players parents.
The first being none other than Carey's Dad. Someone was shouting at me "what a belter, you've been rumbled" from their car, assumed it was a Charlton fan but realised it was Sonny's Dad when he said "I just watched you online vlog my son's goal". Nice bloke
Then in the North stand Derby fan zone I ended up chatting to a group who I thought were Derby fans, who then revealed they were there to support Harvey Knibbs, two of the group later revealing they were his Mum & Dad, again, really nice people, especially Knibbsy's Mum.
As for the game, boring shite other than the Cheeseman's wonder slice. What a player.
Take the point away but disappointed not to get the win after Knibbs had such a clear cut chance, and Doch's later. Feel Preston will offer a much tougher test.10 -
Also surprised to see negative comments about Agyemang, thought he looked a real handful and a player who could live up to his price tag. Thought we struggled physically for a change.
Matt Clarke as well, what a player, best centre back we have come up against so far this season, you can see why Brighton took a plunge those years back.
Not much to say for our boys, thought we looked tired, hopefully we look a bit more lively for Preston.2 - Sponsored links:

Good point on the road yes,
I don’t know why Bree was taken off,
as we needed a striker in the second half and should not rely on one goal leads.!0 -

To be gutted with only getting a point away in the championship is a good sign of our progress. Agree that some of our players looked tired and thats hardly suprising following the shift they put in on Saturday. This weekend will be our most difficult game so far this season I think.0
-
I like our style of football - close down from the front, work your bollox off, hunt in packs and don't dally about with it at the back - i barely watch what the opposition do but there's no way that Derby's football was any more sophisticated - lump it up to the big units up top or try and get down the wing and cross it in to them. Their most dangerous player was the fella who scored - he looked to have non league ability in general play.2

Was a low quality game, worst I've watched of the season so far, just how it goes sometimes.0 -

I'm feeling more confident we have a good team at this level after the last few games, with our defensive strengths and fitness we should have enough to finish around mid table.
I do think there's more to come from us in possession, and we our strongest 11 should emerge as the season progresses. If we can become tidier in possession and more clinical we could do even better.
I'd like to see Apter get some time off the bench. We still don't know what JRC can offer us. There's got to be more to come from Knibbs too and I'd find a way to start getting Fullah involved - but after last night, I wouldn't be surprised if it's Berry that comes off the bench. With the way Docherty has stepped up, I wouldn't be surprised to see Berry come off the bench and grab a goal.
It'll be interesting to see how Hernandez is used and who NJ mainly sticks with in our back five, as there's a good case for all of them to be starting.
Up front there's still a big opportunity for any of our strikers to make the spots their own. So far, none of them are standing out in the final third.8 -

PWR Fair result and if anything Derby edged it over the 90.A point on the road is never to be sniffed at and what about that goal! Unbelievable quality.1

A few musings
Our goal was an excellent team goal, capped with an emphatic finish by Bree. Kelman's touch was sublime and I thought overall that this was his best game for us.
We lost momentum after our subs. Easy to say in hindsight, and I understand why Jones did it with games coming thick and fast, but I think we missed Carey's industry in particular. Knibbs looked good when he came on and did put his foot in, but Carey is carrying on in the Luke Berry mould of a "number 10" that gets all over the pitch and we missed his industry.
Ramsay is an excellent defender but somewhat limited going forwards. He's fine as a more full back but can't do the Small/Apter/Bree role, where the expectation is to operate as a winger when we are on the attack.
Disappointed with a draw as we should have taken advantage of being on top and got another goal before we allowed them back into it. But when the dust settles, another valuable point away from home.3 -
Yep..Bring on Preston and a real test of our Champ capabilities and potential at this level...onwards.👍0

I was disappointed how their defender had so much space to take his jump unchallenged. We cannot afford more of that and Kaminski should have got closer to a far post header.1

Far too early to say anything at this stage. Give it another 8-10 matches & then look at it again.1 -
It is interesting that in all the midweek Championship fixtures, not one home club won. One home club even lost four nil but I can't remember who they were.11
