That is shocking, surely Pennocks days must be numbered.1

Let’s hope not.1

Saw Hendon win 1-0 at Dulwich in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
Funny old game.....the Hendon keeper saved two penalties, with the second one being in the 92nd minute! Real heroic stuff from him.
Crowd was very low by Dulwich standards, 1,185 and it seems that the malaise regarding early rounds of the cup has now filtered into certain parts of non-league football. 1,185 is probably less than half of the expected attendance for a similar-sized Dulwich league game. Sad to see that.2 -
Back down to earth last night for Hendon.
Our hero goalie rolled a ball straight to a Harrow Borough forward, took him down, conceded a penalty and got a red card. Another red card followed and so did a 4-1 thumping.
Sadly, some real unpleasantness in the form of anti-semitic comments from some blokes old enough to know better, further soured the evening. We don't need that sort of shit anywhere....least of all at non-league football.1 -

Just a bit sad that the modern fan doesn't seem to want to know about cup football unless it's a big game or the latter stages. That didn't used to be the case but a combination of Premier League and Champions League has been bad for domestic cup competitions and there is a whole generation of fans now that doesn't know how good cup football can be.0 -

Dulwich get ludicrous crowds for that level. Hard to understand why FA Trophy attendances would be well down on normal gates, as it's not as if they get 2000 fans along just to see the scintillating football played at Isthmian League Premier Division level!

All I can think is cup games not being on Season Tickets but I don't see that basically halving the gate because it's FA Trophy1 -
Don't get me wrong....a share of 1,185 gate money is serious money for a club like Hendon and away to Dulwich was absolutely the best draw we could have got for financial reasons (and also because Dulwich have always welcomed us).
I really do put it down to "modern-fan syndrome" ....early rounds of cups are seen as an irrelevance. At non-league level, it's not like teams are routinely putting out weakened sides in the FA Trophy.1 - Sponsored links:

Watched Welling go down 3-2 at VCD last night.
Very seldom I couldn’t care less about losing, but to go out early in the Kent Senior Cup (won it last season), didn’t bother me in the slightest.
Nice ground and set up at VCD. The groundsman certainly knows his job1 -
