We don't need a LB, we need a LWB. Why not Ferdi who looked decent in his cameo. Canaries were sorry to see him go.IR94 said:Apprantly Bree has played at LB 21 times in his career, surely the best option to fill in there, with Apter coming in on the right.

Bree plays wing back for us, he has played there before, who is Ferdi?Gisappointed said:

Campbell is NOT a wingback.sam3110 said:Jones I'm fairly sure was playing through injury, probably had a painkilling injection at halftime to make it through.

You do know there are only 3 defenders in that lineup. Are you hoping for an entertaining 5-5?RonnieMoore said:Could try new system 3142 …… Ramsey Jones and Gilly , Coventry holding , Apter Doc Carey Campbell , Olaofe Kelman5 -

Bit more of a selection headache for Nathan Jones with this one, the team usually picks itself but whoever plays LWB will probably be a bit of a square peg in a round hole.
Surprised to see Krystian Bielik hasn’t featured for West Brom more this season, would love him back in our squad one day.0 -

Without the injuries, I might have rested Bree on Tuesday, as he looked a bit leggy yesterday. It might still be useful to bench Bree, as it will give us a defender on the bench in case we need to replace anyone.
Are there any decent CBs in the U21s? Can Laqeretabua play at CB or would Mason Hunter be a more natural CB option for the bench?1 -
Fair. Although it’s worth remembering that Bree will get a rest in two games time as we play his parent club.killerandflash said:Without the injuries, I might have rested Bree on Tuesday, as he looked a bit leggy yesterday. Laqeretabua and Hunter are nowhere near ready for first-team football. Will likely be Fullah and Anderson as the replacements on the bench.killerandflash said:Without the injuries, I might have rested Bree on Tuesday, as he looked a bit leggy yesterday. Whatever happened to Bennett who spent pre-season with us? surely worth a short-term contract?1
-
Joe Bennett is currently playing for Walton & Hersham (Step 3 in Non League) - crazy that because he actually looked decent on trial with us.IR94 said:Whatever happened to Bennett who spent pre-season with us? surely worth a short-term contract?0 -

It will affect us more as our strong first 11 defence is the catalyst for what we do best and due to injuries/fitness, we are unlikely to have that strong main defence for some games going forward.Sword65pf said:Can I just say, if we are knackered after the run of games, so will the opposition be, the managers of the respective teams will pick players accordingly. So don’t really see how it will affect us any more than anyone else. They are pro footballers and fit as f,:k, except the injured ones. Let’s not make excuses and go and win a game of football.Even pro footballers are allowed excuses when they have been putting in 100% for us home and away (including back to back away games twice already).0 -
Until your post, I'd completely missed Bielik was now at West Brom!SheedyCAFC said:Bit more of a selection headache for Nathan Jones with this one, the team usually picks itself but whoever plays LWB will probably be a bit of a square peg in a round hole.

If Fullah is to start, then the home game would be the one, it means only changing that one position as Ramsay will drop into Burke's position, if it doesn't work then back to the drawing board for the Wrexham fixture. I think the front two will be the same, Kelman will be itching to start after opening his account and whatever people think about the merits of Olaofe starting or even Miles, Campbell stops the full backs getting out and over manning our midfield, this contributed to Swansea's second half dominance when Campbell moved to left wing back. I can’t see any other changes for Tuesday, but that won't be the case for Saturday at Wrexham. A win for Charlton, giving us four points from the two home games, and I will be well happy.7

Surely it has to be Ibby Fullah starting at left wing-back. He’ll have the guidance of Jones, Gillesphey, Doc etc. he’s done well each time he has played, NJ has also said time and time again how good he’s been in training. Sometimes you have to trust the player to do the business, and I think he is the real deal.
Think Carey will do better in the away game at Wrexham and because of that, maybe Knibbs comes in for him. Kelman has to start after his goal. Leaburn and TC to come on second half just like Ipswich away.

I'd give Hernandez a go. No doubt he wouldn't last more than about an hour but he seems to work hard going by the little we've seen so far.1

My Dad's team RIP. He never really left SE London, born in 37, so I can only assume WBA were a bit of a Liverpool or Man Utd.
I would take a draw.

Starting with Tuesday night, these are the equivalent 5 game spell (matches 14 to 19) last season where messing around with the starting line up looked like it threatened to derail our season with just 5 points picked uppeterreeves said:Trying to second guess our Nathan is a tall order. After Hull and Swansea the players do look shattered so you'd expect a few changes but I'm not sure. Knibbs may come in for Doc but I can't see Coventry or Carey being sidelined. I think Apter will come in as he can create... But the defence looks terrifying so it's got to be damage limitation in the next two games and get to the International break and hope that Bell might be back after.
Repeating this for the benefit of those that think tinkering with the lineup only has an upside

This is a big one tomorrow. Jones should prioritise his best side and then hopefully with three points in the bag, Saturday is a free shot where he can mix things up and rest some of the key performers if they're tired.
Might not be what anyone going up on Saturday wants to see but that's the correct strategy IMO2 -
Nearly liked that post until I saw the ‘Saturday is a free shot’ comment. There’s no such thing in this division, you have to go out and pick up points whenever, wherever and however you can otherwise you might just regret treating a match as a free shot come the end of the season.kinveachyaddick said:This is a big one tomorrow. He's the real deal as an attacking/progressive player, but as a wing back in the Championship? That's a massive ask defensively.Sage said:Surely it has to be Ibby Fullah starting at left wing-back. But you can't just pick the best 11, game after game, as they'll run out of energy and get overrun. That's what happened at Preston. Team selection is always a compromise.letthegoodtimesroll said:

People are so keen give up the 3pts in a game as a’free shot’ no such thing,if we missed out on say the playoffs because we approached some games as a free shot would people be happy? And what happens if we start losing our non free shots?. It’s the biggest make yourself feel better if we lose comment on here.5

Nathan was more or less picking the same starting eleven every match last season when we went on the (mostly) winning run that took us to Wembley. It was the 5 game block we entered into last season (that we enter into tomorrow night) where Nathan was tinkering with the starting line up that saw us start to think the season was heading south…killerandflash said:
