    Saw John Lyndon’s spoken word show this evening. 

    Some of it was great and some was shambolic. The first half was him telling his life story whilst swigging tea and whisky and getting increasingly pissed and belligerent…..all the way through you could sense the audience thinking ‘just talk about the bloody pistols’

    second half was a q&a which was better. Ended with a bizarre singalong to Fernando by ABBA, Anarchy in the UK and Things Ain’t What They Used To Be by Max Bygraves!

    Just seen Bill & Ted (Keanu and alex) in waiting for Godot in NY, doesn't get great critic reviews but i thought both of them did well of not exceptionally and was a good production if you happen to be over that way and want to avoid something you can see in the UK

    Going to see Punch at the Apollo next weekend and The Book Thief at the Prince Edward towards the end of October.
    Really want to see the Book Thief (one of my favourite books as per the Books thread!) but busy/expensive month and so can't justify the day up there and too skint for the tickets/train etc.

    So really hoping this is an attempt to gauge interest and they then do a London run/tour!

    Would be interested what you think of it mate, in case they do!!
    Like you I am a fan of the book, but the show was very meh. It’s just not suitable subject material for a musical imo.

    It’s also a very low budget production, even though it’s made it to the west end for a few shows.

    TBH I think part of the issue for me, and my partner agreed, was that I didn’t really warm to any of the actors playing the main roles. The lady playing death was good, but the rest weren’t up
    to much.
    Ah, that's a shame - might keep an eye on the reviews if it does come back round.

    I did think it was one I wouldn't have taken my  daughter to - she's just getting into the theatre and I'm not sure 2 hours on Nazi Germany would encourage that!

It’s an excellent play with tales of the supernatural, typical humour and some pathos. Well worth seeing as I did yesterday for an afternoon matinee. I came out, turned on the mobile just as our late winning goal went in at against Sheffield United. A great afternoon and a fine Crack. 
    Saw it a couple of weeks ago, just after coming back from Ireland after the death of my brother, the play is set in Leitrim and so much of the play ran true with me.
