Won the first game of the season 3-1 against Watford. (Apter, Carey & Knibbs with the goals)

Have set us up as we are in real life, Bree starts the season injured so I'm playing Apter on the right currently. MOTM was Watford.

Only signing so far is Ayden Heaven on loan from Man Utd to play the LCB role.

Sold the Gomez clause so I have 5 million to spend but so far struggling to find anyone to sign that fits into our playing style and is interested in signing. Don't want to spend the money for the sake of it so might sit tight until January and just bring in a couple of loans to fill the squad out in certain areas.

Funnily enough I signed Heaven on loan in January. Only other signing I've siccesfully made is Trey Nyoni on loan to replace Doc

Finding it tricky finding someone to replace Doc. I need someone with similar stamina and work rate but also a bit more classy in possession.

Just waiting for a few foreign scouts to sign with me to hopefully find a gem or two abroad.

Forgot about the clause with Gomez!! Will sell that ASAP.

Was looking at Redmond and Oxlade-Chamberlain for EXP in the young team.

Did sign a young Dutch lad on a free who had left PSV. 2* but has a massive ceiling. Cant remember his name but will look a little later.

I haven't played any of the beta but I kept reading it's a game designed for console, so I downloaded it on my Xbox.

After playing for 40 minutes, this is without doubt the worst game I've ever played. It's completely broken, nothing at all works, everything lags or glitches and it's pretty much impossible to do anything apart from skip time and play the games.

I'm currently stuck as I can't move forward without responding to a transfer offer, but the game doesn't let you reject or accept the offer?! A real shame as I've put over a thousand hours into FM over the years, but it seems the game has died.

Can't speak for the console version but the PC version is getting better and better with updates. It gets rid of the bugs above and I'm getting more familiar with the UI

Yep I’ve been waiting for Fulham to reduce their demands on him, they wanted all of his wages covered.

I’ve managed to get him now, only covering 30% of his wages. Hoping to get Lewis Miley too but he keeps rejecting the move so far.

So far I’ve beaten Watford 3-1, Coventry (in the cup) 3-2 with my reserves and Bristol 0-3. Kelman with a second half hat-trick after bringing him on at half time.

10 games in and I'm off to a really good start, top of the league having won our last 5 in a row.

Only disappointment really is that we lost to Millwall but since then I've tweaked a few things and we seem to be unstoppable.

Hopefully we'll still be in the top 6 come January and I'll be able to convince some better players to join, there weren’t too many interested in the summer window so I just opted for a few loans to fill the squad out a bit.

Heaven on loan from Man Utd and Peck on loan from Sheff Utd are the only players I signed playing regularly in my first 11, Josh King will likely break into the team soon but Sonny Carey is on fire and keeping him out currently so he's having to rotate with Apter in the wing back role.

Signed Bamford on a free for some decent cover. Shocking in real life but might do a job for me at The Valley.
Funny thing is I was actually thinking he is potentially a very Nathan Jones sort of player. Incredibly hard working and does the thankless tasks according to the manager's plan, just not very prolific apart from one season at Middlesbrough and a spell at Leeds. Given that our whole setup is to have a striker who makes life absolutely miserable for defenders in the press but isn't necessarily required to score to have a good game he'd fit in perfectly. If we were still short up front and he was willing to take a very big paycut I reckon he'd be a perfect fit. We aren't though, and he won't, but if you're good enough to be the tip of the Bielsa press you're definitely good enough to do it for Jones.
Watching Keeifer Moore yesterday and I thought this is the exact type of player we should have gone for over Kelman.

Tanto could be that player I think.

I haven't got it yet, I usually wait until Christmas anyway for the early kinks to be worked out but right now I'm deciding between getting it in March or not at all. Everything I've read about it sounds like it's nowhere near the level it should be for a paid release

On another note, has anyone seen the PES 21 mod for 98/99 season on PC that’s being released. It looks like gaming heaven, even BBC graphics in the corner and a Valley stadium.

Steam are bringing out their own console and I’m thinking of getting it just for that.

I watched a video earlier, they claim player boots are 100% accurate. Not played PES or FIFA for years but does look great.

The good news is I have 8 games to go, I'm in 2nd place, 2 points clear of Ipswich in 3rd with a game in hand and 4 clear of Bristol who are in fourth with a game in hand over them as well. Games vs Ipswich and Bristol coming up soon so it's in my own hands.

The bad news is the board decided to take my 6 million transfer budget that I had saved for next season and also reduced my wage budget to 254k. Pretty annoyed about that to be honest, lesson learnt I'll spend it next time.

Gotta get up this year or next years likely to be harder with a reduced budget.

  • After 20 years working in gaming for Konami, EA and then Activision it's fair to say I've wasted a lot of my life on FM :) Only difference is now I have to pay for the game, so before I take the plunge is it worth it?

After the year or so break I think I'm finally cured of the addiction, is it worth going down the rabbit hole again?

I don't think it's worth the £50 on Steam, I'm holding out hope it'll go down in price for Black Friday.

Yes I can’t wait for this either. I played a modded version of PES 21 on my Steam Deck called “Football Life 25” and it ran great. A wee bit finicky to install and took up loads of space with the real face packs and stadiums. I’d expect PES 99 to be 200GB+ but would look amazing on the new Steam Machine

I’m really enjoying it now I’ve got used to the new interface. It was jarring at first but I sort of see some of the logic behind it and the IP and OOP tactics stuff is great

I got it for around £20 on pre sale and Chinese steam prices and feel like I’ve been ripped off. It’s a pile of shite imo and I’m a proper FM fiend.

  • 2 games to go but we're up, I thought I might fade away at the end of the season but we came on really strong.

Most goals scored in the division
    The least concede
Leaburn second top scorer in the division

31.6 million to spend next season and a 550k wage budget.

Lost on the final game of the season to drop out the playoffs on GD as Sheffield United scored a 94th minute equaliser at QPR to overtake me. Think the game is purposefully trying to make me quit already

A lot of people moaning on Reddit etc. but I’m quite enjoying it. It has taken me a few saves and ditching them to find the right one but settled on Wolves at the moment. Quite challenging actually. Some high earners, players that aren’t good enough, old, lots of foreigners that don’t satisfy the home grown rule. However, they’ve got some good technical players.

Made a few of signings at the back including getting O’Reilly on loan from City despite him playing against me the day before for them.

Nearly beat City on the opening day going full tiki-taka.

Usually start with Charlton but can’t bring myself to kick Nathan Jones out of a job. My scouts at Wolves do like Kanye Ramsay though…

I don't know who did the stats for us but I can't believe how good Ibby Fullah is from the start, 20 goals and 15 assists in his first season in the Championship. Never seen anything like it from a Charlton Youth player, who had just 1 sub appearance in League One to his name, before the game was released

FM24 was really easy, maybe the easiest I’ve played. And this one feels the same

Like others, I’ve got us at the top end of the championship and I turned the first window off so just using our actual squad without any additions. Not doing anything revolutionary with tactics either. The cynic in me makes me think they’ve made sure it’s easy as people enjoy it more when they’re winning and they expected they’d take a bit of a hammering so wanted to have some positivity.

Overall thoughts from me are that tactics and playing matches are brilliant upgrades, the rest of the game is not good. I’ve got used to the new UI but it’s still shit, more clicks to get to everything and a lot of unused space on screen. Still some bugs and stuff that doesn’t work properly as well and crashes so I’ve got auto-save on after every game now to avoid losing progress.

Find myself basically skipping quickly to next match where on previous versions you might get lost in the virtual world a lot more, seen a lot of similar comments that the game feels like it’s lost the immersion it had before.

There’s definitely potential and I’m excited about future games but this one is definitely a massive own goal so far, it wasn’t ready for release and deserves the criticism it has received
