I would also add that remember how catastrophic a season that Southampton had in the Prem last year. Albeit they were playing at a higher level, but they tried to play football and got absolutely annihilated. The point being that we can’t replicate the likes of Swansea and there are going to be plenty of games like in the first 30 minutes tonight and in the first 45 at Ipswich where we struggle to get a foothold, but it’s the results that count. This is where it all started to go wrong the last time we were in the Championship, coincidentally I think the 2-2 at WBA being our last decent result before we struggled well into Feb. We need as many points on the board as possible as we just don’t know what’s round the corner injury front
I can understand some people’s frustrations with elements of the first half performance, but I very much doubt we can have our cake and eat it at this level. Every point needs to be celebrated.34 -

A quite wonderful last minute winner from Sonny Carey - the man is a source of undiluted joy !
I thought that West Brom were better than us in the first half, dominating midfield and possession, but creating very little in the final third. The only time I felt remotely threatened was when Price got through on the right but screwed his shot wide. For our part, there were far too many long, hopeful balls sent up towards Leaburn and Campbell, most of which were comfortably picked up by the opposition. The Doc’s penalty miss was unfortunate but it would, in truth, have been an undeserved lead.
I thought we improved in the second half, although Kaminski had to beat away a dangerous shot shortly after the break. We gradually managed to get more of a foothold in the game and Sonny served notice of what was coming with a fine effort from distance, which the goalie managed to deflect over.
The introduction of the very impressive Fullah and Knibbs posed some fresh questions for the West Brom defence and that was a clever tactical switch from Nathan However, the game looked for all the world to be petering out to a draw until Sonny’s moment of magic.
A shout out to our defenders, particularly Lloyd Jones and Ramsey, whilst Hernandez also acquitted himself very well on his full debut.
The win puts us on 23 points with less than a third of the season gone - an outcome at this stage that even the most optimistic of Lifers could scarcely have dreamed of.

Not sure if I’m right with this but should the pen have been retaken? First player to clear the ball off docs head following the save was encroaching if you look at the sky sports highlights. Shit pen nonetheless. Great result.1

I'm adamant sides are afraid of us the longer games go without us conceding.
West Brom have some really good players but what I live about football is the ways it can be equalised, narrow defending and desire to win the ball. Set pieces, physicality and they matched us for that most of the game
Sonny Carey, I'm so happy he plays for us I was delighted we signed him as I definitely thought he was destined for bigger things and he is keeping a properly good player in Knibbs out.

Last time out in this league we won only 12 of 46 league games all season.
We have already won 6 of our first 14 games this year!8 -
Well and truly gone are the recent days of drawing 1-1 with Cray Valley Paper Mills in the FA Cup, or wondering if we’d be able to cope without having May, Dobson & CBT in our team.
The amount of injuries we have right now to important players and yet we still have enough about us to go toe to toe with established Championship sides with larger budgets & players that they’ve spent millions more on and take points off them.
Even if we finish 21st from this position, we have sellable players worth £5m+ and we can reinvest into the squad to make us genuinely stronger & better for next season.
We’re coming up to the 1 year anniversary quite soon from when Crawley beat us at home & I remember I wanted Jones sacked that night after the game, but thank god I’m not one of our any of our owners - who I barely know any of the names of, and doubt I’d recognise them in the street because they don’t parade around the pitch with guitars or eat nice bread & drive range rovers.
It’s a genuinely fun & proud time to be a supporter of our club, and long may this journey continue.23 -
A game that was difficult to watch for long periods, especially in the first half. WBA looked a lot sharper than us early on, especially in the opening 20 minutes. In possession we seemed to alternate between long balls that didn't find their man, or at least not in a way that they could be controlled, and a passing game that was slow, cautious and frequently inaccurate. Consequently, our only real chance in the first half came from that rather naff penalty. We did defend well though and at different times each and every one of our defenders made challenges or blocks that might be described as game-saving.
In the second half we changed up a gear but it still didn't look like it would be enough until young Mr Fullah entered the scene and added a bit of sparkle to our attack. Cracking way to end the game though. Well done to Sonny Carey for giving us the much needed firepower, but also to the whole team who never gave up. Man of the match for me was Lloyd Jones though, an absolute colossus.
