She was fantastic, despite being at the O2, top gig.

Bagged tickets for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at the Troxy in December. Very pleased. Love them and never managed to see them in the early years3

Saw Chris Difford and fantastic band in Twickenham on Friday night. Bit of a trek, but a Wonderful uplifting evening, mix of stories from his early life and career along with some classic Squeeze songs and several top new ones. He's a great raconteur, which I guess is to be expected given his wonderful story telling songs....and some great tales of famous stars he's met along the way, safe to say that they might be less impressed with his memories...!
Great at to see he appears to be in a good place, everyone left smiling. Massively recommended!1 -
Saw it in a church a few weeks ago. Top night out. He’s like a stand up comedian. And to end on Peter’s and Lee was hilariousPlumstead118 said:Saw Chris Difford and fantastic band in Twickenham on Friday night. An interesting lot of gig posters in an auction at Fieldings (https://auctions.fieldingsauctioneers.co.uk/catalogue/eb44345fc3246eb897cb5eb111eaf16e/9b615028af0ce7db085bb45d23efc09c/vinyl-records-music-entertainment-memorabilia-vintage-to/).
This one caught my eye because I'm surprised to see Secret Affair topping the bill over Madness.0 -
I’m assuming that’s 1979. Secret Affair’s Time for Action made the charts couple of months before Madness released The Prince and got to number 13 at the time of that gig.2

I was there too! (Less of a trek for me). It was one of the best things I've seen in ages, a top man, really good band and really good sound. If he does any more, firm recommendation.Plumstead118 said:Saw Chris Difford and fantastic band in Twickenham on Friday night. This one caught my eye because I'm surprised to see Secret Affair topping the bill over Madness.I saw XTC 2 days before that Aylesbury gig at the Music Machine on 20th December 1979, they were brilliant and this was in the days when Andy Partridge was still able to be on stage though they didn't get on stage until nearly midnight as the tour bus broke down or some similar excuse, don't think the music curfews were in force in those days either.Had to get the night bus home to Lewisham and then walk the rest of the way to Plumstead Common, got home around 4am, and as it was last day of school term in 6th form so had to up and out to be at Eaglesfield at 9am! Best said that my mum wasn't happy with my "gigging" in those days.Memories eh!3 -

Radiohead last night. Astonishing back catalogue of songs and good performance. Sound was awful (and occasionally out of sync). The hives + yard act on Saturday next.1

Assume this was part of the March of the Mods tour. I saw Secret Affair, Purple Hearts and Back to Zero in Torquay in July or August, then the Lyceum in September {?}. Madness supported there and I'd never heard of them at that stage. Pretty sure Selecter did as well.AddicksAddict said:

Posting this on the train back. Yes it was pretty loud but so much of the power went to the low end that I found it manageable with my standard protection. If anything the Jubilee line is doing more damage! 🤪Leuth said:Anyone else going to suffer permanent hearing damage at Wembley Arena tomorrow

The Wedding Present are currently touring France.
Le Mans today
La Roche sur Yon tomorrow- sold out weeks ago but I bought mine in September
Limoges on Friday1 -
I saw English Teacher a year or so ago and thought they were very good. After a year of intensive touring, they’ve become outstanding, based on fabulous performance at the Roundhouse, Chalk Farm last night.

If you're free Friday 19th December and looking for a local gig. Then my band (Simmons And The Stags) are playing The Iron Horse in Sidcup, it's free entry and we've got some great support of independent musicians.
And of course Tyreece Campbell will be played loud and maybe a rendition of VFR at some point.
We have a Facebook event that you can RSVP and then it'll remind you closer to the date. CLICK HERE FOR THE FACEBOOK
Usually a good load of Charlton fans join us for the gigs, always good fun and a good drink up. And if you come, make sure you introduce yourself and say hi!2 -
Tuesday 2nd December, 7:30, Dartford Folk Club (@Dartford Working Mens Club)
Benji Kirkpatrick - founder member of Bellowhead.
Entrance: £12. Beer/ale/craft -£3.90 a pint. Tickets available on door :-)
Should be a great evening, supporting live music.1 -
Fabulous final London gig for Porridge Radio last night. They were outstanding. It’s a shame they consider it the end of 10-year project having witnessed how they’ve grown so much over the last five years. I’m sure the highly-talented Dana Margolin will reappear soon.

Finished up the year for touring bands - Band of Skulls last Tuesday, and Belly on Friday.
BoS were good, although the female vocals were not really there. Maybe it was the mix, but apart from songs she led on, you could barely hear her. I do find them frustrating, as Russell does like to retune for pretty much every song, but there’s no real audience interaction to distract you. You’re just standing around waiting for something to happen.Belly were a new one for me, didn’t really know much of there stuff. It was entertaining, but the songs were a bit hit or miss.Just a few local bands to see, and then the only thing announced for next year so far is the Joy Formidable in March.0 -
The night after Porridge Radio, it was the O2 with Wolf Alice. I’ve never liked the O2 much and always liked Wolf Alice but not as one of my favourites. However, they were outstanding and the gentler stuff from their new album blended in well. I think it was my gig of the year.

Don Bronco at Wembley for me on Friday. Have lounge passes for this one.
Ice Nine Kills at Wembley the week after and Neck Deep at Brixton with Boston Manor the week after that.0 -
I had a great night watching 'The Dirty Three' at the Century Hall, Manchester. So much brilliant musicianship, wild improvisation and emotion goes into their sets. 3 hours of moody, intense, loud, and soulful music. its great to see Warren Ellis really take the front of the stage and listen to his wild, comical and sometimes angry rantings.2
-
Saw Chasingabbey at the Camden Assembly last night along with @TelMc32, it was their first gig this side of the Irish Sea.
They play traditional Irish music with electronic production.

Saw the Polecats last night in Valencia. They set out at about 7AM, delayed flights and missed connections meant they didn't get to the venue until about half an hour before they were due on stage at 12.30AM. Four sixty-plus year old blokes and they smashed it out of the park.
The return flight was 6AM today...
Life as a jobbing musician, eh?2 -
Just a reminder. If you're looking for live free music tomorrow with some great independent acts then come on down to the Iron Horse in Sidcup. Right next to the train station and hear Tyreece Campbell played live along with other covers, originals and more!
My band will be on at 9:30. Hopefully see some lifers there! Make sure you say hi and introduce yourself.
*WARNING YOU MAY HAVE A HANGOVER AT THE MATCH AGAINST OXFORD*

Neck Deep and Boston Manor at Brixton Academy this evening. Arrived 45 mins after the doors opened and the queue took over an hour to get in. The organisation at this venue is a fucking joke……1

On the way home from seeing the wonder stuff at Shepherds Bush. Absolutely class as usual.4

They have really messed up the entry and exit now, to the point where the exit feels more dangerous than it used to be in terms of crush factor. Counter intuitive to what they should be doing really.Clem_Snide said:Neck Deep and Boston Manor at Brixton Academy this evening. Went to see The Popguns in Brighton last night, probably about the 45th time I have seen them.
A right pain getting back though, as the Thameslink trains don’t stop at London Bridge late at night.0 -
Not a gig as such but just got back from a Brit Pop brunch with Bez as the special guest, great fun and proper pissed.2
