Boring race but brilliant to have another Brit as WC. Also great to have a McLaren driver win it, they’ve always been my favourite team.

Nice to see Oscar shaking hands with Lando's family and friends
Given all the abuse that Antonelli got etc. that is how a loser behaves!!
His day will come. He'll get his title one day.
Sadly, given the way F1 works, you can definitely see someone like Oscar, George or Charles ending up with nothing
Especially with the new Guard already coming through and making an impression.
Ultimately for Oscar its going to be where he ends up, as cant see him wanting to stay with McLaren long term, so will either need Aston Martin to nail things under Newey, or he could be the next to be seriously damaged by Ferrari
Think Charles is probably destined to be the one of those 3 that will get nothing. If the Merc PU is as good as rumoured then a Russell/Norris/Piastri/Antonelli title scrap next year could be special.

The new guard will be fascinating. I genuinely don't know if Lewis does 2026 still and Ferrari are well set for the future with Bearman and hopefully Rafa Camara.

Well done Norris would have sown it up if for his engine failure and DQ in Vegas already. Some important moves after the pit stops.

    Bring on the new regulations
  • Jesus wept... Antonelli has had to again turn off the comments on Social Media given the hate he's receiving and has been seen apologising to Max again, for his mistake in Qatar last week - Will not shed a single tear if ever Red Bull leave the Sport

it's just fucking race. What is wrong with people? They are one of many I would cull. Life for all us would be better without them.

And the ridiculous thing is, it made no difference as Piastri would have let him through today if he needed the extra 3 points anyway.

If Oscar and Lando hadn't swapped positions in Italy, Max would now be a 5 times world champion.

     - If Lando hadn't gone into the back of Oscar in Canada, or hadn't been wiped out by Oscar in Austin
     - If Max hadn't been taken out by Kimi in Austria
     - If Kimi hadn't made his mistake in Qatar
     - If Max hadn't seen red against his team in Spain, needlessly taking it out on Russell
     - If Oscar hadn't binned it in Brazil or Baku, or even that mistake in Australia

So many factors over the course of the season, including a number of slow stops

Max alone should have received a race ban for what he did in Spain, the fact he only got a 10-second penalty was a joke, given that it was the same penalty Russell received a race before, for simply admitting that he was happy to overtake off track.

So McLaren made an excellent team decision then.......

Same can be said for Red Bull's decision to pit Max in Spain, they didn't need to... and was partly the cause for his actions

If Michael Masi had done his job properly, Verwhingen would now be a 3 times world champion!

That still boils my piss, not only for what he did but the way he did it, that meant there was no way to correct it. You couldn't penalise Red Bull as they hadn't done anything wrong so it was a fait accompli. Max was champion and there was nothing anyone could do about it. He'll always have an unoffical asterix next to that one though.

Sounds like Helmet Marko is stepping down from his role now...
Truly the end of an era for Red Bull over the last 12-months - The racist Grandad wont be missed!!

Makes me wonder if the rumours about Red Bull hierarchy wanting Vettel in that role are true or if they'll promote Sebs ex race engineer Gulierme Roquelin to replace Marko.

Also a few rumours about Max having a new race engineer for next season due to some personal issues regarding GP.

Vettel was supposedly at the race over the weekend which will only fuel the rumour mill

    Not true.
If Piastri hadn’t given up 2nd place in Italy, then as the chequered flag approached in Abu Dhabi, the potential points would’ve seen Verstappen winning by one point from Norris, with Piastri a further seven points behind. Piastri would have then handed Norris second place to secure the title for McLaren. McLaren confirmed that they would do this if Piastri’s chance was gone, which by then, it had. The points would’ve ended up exactly the same and Piastri would’ve handed over the same number of points to Norris over the season.

Apart from anything else, handing the position back to Norris in Italy was the right thing to do.

Wonder what odds you'll get on a Lando SPOTY win or is he a too niche sport and unknown to the masses to get anywhere near Rory?

Hamilton, Mansell and Hill all have two awards each... Jenson got robbed in 2009 as they decided to include Giggs in the nominations as well for his contribution over the years at Man Utd rather than anything he did in 2009.

Still remember the conversation between Clarkson and Button on Top Gear the following year, when Jeremy made fun of Giggs who in his speech said: "I didn't have anything prepared for this"... and Clarkson commented: "Yeah but the bloke behind you did"

When Mansell and Hill won the awards
a vast amount of non sports fans would know them.

These days only the F1 fans would know who Norris is

This is something I was pondering the other day , most of the current F1 field bar Lewis could probably wander around any city or major town without most people batting an eyelid. The curse of Bernie moving the sport lock stock to Sky much like with the cricket too where they've spent their entire careers behind a paywall.

Absolutely no chance of that, purely because of Drive to Survive. I presume most of us don’t bother to watch it but it’s hard to underestimate just how big that show is and how much it has done for driver recognition

    Marko has left red bull.
Watch Verstappen leave at the end of his next contract, possibly before, and expect them to sell off one of the teams too in the mid term.

Weirdly I can make a case for them selling RBR to Ford and keeping Racing Bulls as a smaller unit, back to their roots as a younger "upstart" team

Shame they didn't stay just that.
