Welling United - What is going on?

It would be interesting to hear the views of some of the legends invited back today including members of their 1986 Southern League winning squad.0
-
And the Father Christmas they’d brought in to hand out presents to kids. Not sure we’ll hear much from ROTW, last time I spoke to him, he was tucking into the mulled wine that had been laid on.Addick Addict said:It would be interesting to hear the views of some of the legends invited back today including members of their 1986 Southern League winning squad.5 -
Pity, they had a lot of good stuff set up today0
-
Welling players have been out on the pitch … obviously not in a game0

From Welling_Fan1963
"Regardless of the consequences involved for anyone responsible for what happened today, all my thoughts are with the Potters Bar gaffer, who is in Hospital with a broken nose.
Humanity should always come before football. Let's hope this all gets resolved soon."2 -
I suspect, like others on here, I've also been given the identity of the person allegedly responsible but won't post it given there might be two sides to the story and the Police are involved.1

Might be useful to tell us what has happened ??!!1

Nah mate, everyone knows police and politicians all form their views based on what's on here and I ain't no grass.Zulu said:Might be useful to tell us what has happened ??!!
Welling are my favourite team on FM, I always manage them (although harder this year with them being in the Isthmian) and luckily I always have the "can't be sacked" button activated...1 -
Wasn’t there a Premier League reserves league?Starinnaddick said:
I'm not saying you’re wrong but I only remember us playing Southern reserve sides although we played Ipswich once when Phil Parkes was in goal for them.iainment said:I have a vague
memory of seeing Charlton Reserves v Man U reserves at Welling. Is that a true memory?0 -
I don't recall that.iainment said:

However on reflection I remember B & W playing Man Utd a couple of times in the FA Youth Cup.0 -

Apparently Welling have an impressive Head-to-Head record v Potters Bar…16

I imagine the Welling manager will not be at Park View Road next week.
Word travels fast!2 -
I wouldn’t mind, they’ve just signed about 10 of his players in the last couple of weeks.
Welling could easily get through 70 players this season0 -
Hey all,
Just wanted to let everyone know I also know what happened but wont let anyone know on herr.

Today’s scheduled fixture at Welling United was abandoned prior to kick-off following a serious incident involving a member of our management team.
Police attended the ground and, following their involvement, the match was unable to proceed. Our manager is receiving appropriate medical care and the club is supporting him fully.
The matter has been referred to the relevant authorities, including the league and The FA, and we are seeking formal advice. As this is now subject to ongoing processes, the club will not be making any further comment at this time.

Allegedly there was a gentleman's agreement to not field a certain player who had transferred between the two teams, but his name was on the team sheet, and the Welling manager took offense.
There has been some bonkers happenings at Welling in recent years. I'm still waiting for my mate to give me permission to share a certain story about former manager Warren Feeney and a Ring doorbell.1 -
To be fair to the manager of Potters Bar, they probably don't have the luxury of having a 70 man squad to pick from.3

A gentlemen’s agreement isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Oh, wait a minute ……Chunes said:Allegedly there was a gentleman's agreement to not field a certain player who had transferred between the two teams, but his name was on the team sheet, and the Welling manager took offense.

By all means be annoyed and tell the manager what you think of him, but Potters Bar are rock bottom of the table. The best way to get over that issue is to just go out and beat them. What you definitely don't do is headbutt the manager, get yourself arrested, quite likely banned by the FA and fired from your job.Chunes said:Allegedly there was a gentleman's agreement to not field a certain player who had transferred between the two teams, but his name was on the team sheet, and the Welling manager took offense.

Was with the squad from 86 in the pub next door. They didn’t bat an eyelid at this news and just cracked on.
The thing is, the forward that went from Welling to Potters Bar was dog shit and most of us would have been happy to see him trot out for them.
Think there is some bad blood between these two when managing Sittingbourne Faversham retrospectively.
Apparently this child is being professionally treated for signs of PTSD

New manager in coming then0
-
Unless they use his assistant?
Who knows mate0 -
Incredible happens at welling althrough it’s all very hush hush reports suggest that the new Welling manager who has done very well since coming in .. attacked the Potters Bar assistant manager and was arrested by police .. game was called off and leaves the club in turmoil with looks like another manager … what about the players Maxwell brought in last week not played a game yet …. It’s a mess and another nail in the Welling coffin

My suspicion is the PB manager won’t press charges and the police will drop it. Will be interesting to see what stance the league takes. Suspect there must be precedent for similar assaults.
Massive dilemma for Welling. In any other situation it’s a slam dunk but they’ve invested a huge amount in this regime over the last 3 weeks3
