Welling United - What is going on?

My take is that the PB manager agreed to not play the ex Welling CF, went back on his word, got a bit stroppy, and got a broken nose.
Apparently the PB manager has a bit about him, and it finally caught up with him.
Think it is all a bit “running to daddy” when two blokes around 40 square up to each other, and the loser calls the Police. I hope you are right AFKA WRT dropping charges, as if he doesn’t, think he will lose a lot of respect from footballing circles at this level.7 -
Personally, if I was assaulted when working I would call the police and feel perfectly justified in doing it. Doesn’t matter how stroppy he was before, doesn’t mean he should get his nose brokenR0TW said:My take is that the PB manager agreed to not play the ex Welling CF, went back on his word, got a bit stroppy, and got a broken nose.

If the stories are true then the Welling manager should at least get the bullet.5

That’s not toughness, that’s playground logic dressed up as non‑league folklore. Honestly, the only people pushing this line are the pseudo‑hardmen who’ve watched too many Green Street reruns, think calling the Police makes you soft and refused to see any criticism of Ryan InnissLearning moment for you, getting your nose broken isn’t part of the job description. Reporting it isn’t “running to daddy,” it’s what grown adults do when they’re assaulted. The whole “respect in footballing circles” argument is just fantasy bravado from blokes who want to posture.If anything, the only thing embarrassing here is pretending that silence equals strength. The PB manager didn’t lose respect by calling the police, the ones sneering at him are the ones losing respect by showing how desperate they are to live out their action film daydreams.9 -
Treacle on the Wings forum;
A shameful new low which is quite something on a list of lows that has been building for years - all of this on a day that was supposed to be a Christmas family day and a celebration of the legends that once wore the shirt with pride. Honestly this club......just unrecognisable from those glory days5 -

how can you justify an assault not being reported on the basis that he will lose respect from the footballing circles.Every other walk of life, if you headbut someone you’ll be sacked on the spot.7 -

Thanks Ronnie.RonnieMoore said:Incredible happens at welling althrough it’s all very hush hush reports suggest that the new Welling manager who has done very well since coming in .. attacked the Potters Bar assistant manager and was arrested by police .. game was called off and leaves the club in turmoil with looks like another manager … what about the players Maxwell brought in last week not played a game yet …. It’s a mess and another nail in the Welling coffin
Btw the Queen died if you hadn't heard.7 -
Agreed even uneducated, poor thinking individuals are allowed to have silly opinions that doesnt mean their opinions shouldnt be rightly mocked. I can say with almost certainty nothing was said that would warrant assault.R0TW said:

I wont due to your vulgar language, I was merely pointing out the illogical falacy of your argument. I was trying to say short of him feeling like he was in danger of physical assault himself then there was no legitimate "words" that may have been said that would cause a physical assault to needed.R0TW said:

Think you've been watching too much in the way of American crime dramas Boss.AFKABartram said:My suspicion is the PB manager won’t press charges and the police will drop it. Will be interesting to see what stance the league takes. Suspect there must be precedent for similar assaults.
Massive dilemma for Welling. In any other situation it’s a slam dunk but they’ve invested a huge amount in this regime over the last 3 weeks
There's no such thing as "pressing charges" in England & Wales. If there's evidential sufficiency, which there surely would be and public interest grounds then the plod and the CPS will proceed with prosecution even if the victim withdraws co-operation.0 -
And if there were only the 2 managers in the room and they both say the PB manager walked into the door/fell over, why would the CPS continue with zero evidence?cafcfan said:
