100 hours community service, was a comment that raised a chuckle.
  • I bet the old dear was making sure she didn't say anything to upset him, in case he nutted her .

Ryan Maxwell managing Welling today and doing post match interview.

All very strange and not a good look on Welling to have a game called off and no further announcement has been made.

If no action is taken regards the incident I'd not be surprised if he keeps his job.

This being the case then the "re-match" will be an interesting one. The police might not be taking any action but games aren't abandoned for no reason and once the FA have everything they need to make a decision then, at best it will be a suspension and fine "awarded" to one or more parties.

Don’t think this is as black and white as people are making it out to be.
Potters Bar are in disarray. Their captain and goalkeeper walked out on the side, and they certainly didn’t want to play a 6 point game when in this current predicament.
They have a lot of behind the scenes issues at present, with money being stolen out of the club being one of them.
As I say, not as black and white as initially thought.

Gutted yesterday though. Lost to a 113rd minute goal with 9 mins added.
Then hit the post looking for an equaliser.
Not sure where the 9 mins came from, let alone the 117 that were eventually played.

I do not see the connection with their situation and the incident concerned.
What I do find interesting is that the Welling manager was representing the club at a function three days afterwards.

I have visions of a line of 20 policemen and stewards separating the 2 dugouts  :D

If an individual has been arrested, commenting on the details could be legally difficult.

Are they all able to play in multiple positions?!

A school friend of mine was Nigel Ransom who played over 1,000 games for Welling all the way back to the mid 1970s. If my memory serves me right he has to take time off from school one day to play at Maine Road against Man City in the FA Youth Cup which was unheard of in those days for a non-league club. He lives in Otford now but I haven't seen him for years and I would love to know what he makes of things at Welling right now.
Welling United 1982-83. Nigel furthest right standing and a young Andy Townsend seated second right

May be an image of soccer football and text

My mate’s brother, Ian Starkey to the right of the keeper. It was going with him to watch his brother play that got me into The Wings

Take a look at the third goal mate when they post it on YT.
    Very special.
Nice to see Danny Waldren catch a ball on his goal line and get sent off.
Think he has a soft spot for Welling.
  • Brilliant win and thoroughly deserved. Best I've seen Welling play for ages.

Welling looked adrift in the relegation zone a few months ago, they've slowly clawed their way back up and are now only 3 points from safety.

I haven't been in a while but has this new manager been the main factor for the improved results?

After backing every available semi pro player available in London and the South East, he may have finally got a fair squad for this level of football. Far from out of trouble yet though.
Still awaiting news of the abandoned Potters Bar game.
Could be a survival in the league decider.
