The ongoing discussions on here about Doc and/or Anderson shows that NJ is now getting options again on players and positions.

To be critical, Anderson has been a potential option all season, but NJ chose not to use him, and instead probably overplayed both Coventry and Doc. 1 minute of league football in the first 15 games of the season was baffling when we can use 5 subs.
The Anderson we saw in league 1 last season was not ready to play regular championship football. It’s clear from his last few games that he has improved a lot, I’d imagine Jones has seen that improvement on the training ground and realised he’s now ready for this level. I think it’s an example of good management. Karoy might have struggled if he’d played more in August/September before this improvement and it could have knocked his confidence.

He’s an improving young player and has clearly improved on the ball over the last 5 months, which Jones will have noticed and then knew it was the right time to bring him in. Also good from Jones to realise that Karoy was nearly good enough, so didn’t need to go out loan like many were suggesting
I still find it hard to believe he couldn't have done a job for us from the bench earlier in the season. Jones himself has admitted he didn't rotate his team enough when we have had busy periods.

Plus all managers are guilty of sometimes favouring signings, especially ones where money was spent, over players already there. We went through a period where to bring in Knibbs, Carey was pushed back into central midfield where he's far less effective. Or the bizarre first half against Boro, where we played Carey, Knibbs and Berry together, and our midfield was torn apart in the first half.

I agree and i think NJ would in hindsight as well. Guessing NJ thought he could fit both Carey and Knibbs in but it actually compounded the injury problems with players who had been doing well not playing in their best positions.

When Kelman scored he ran to the fans and tapped his wrist, any idea why?

Someone (Bree?) was teasing him about his watch pre match

My favourite line up with the current fit players in my head is:

    Mannion
    Apter Ramsay Jones Gillesphey TC
    Anderson carey coventry
    Leaburn Kelman

Would likely get shredded defensively against any sort of wide pace but you never know unless you try
Apter is left footed, TC is right footed. OK as inverted wingers/forwards but not wingbacks.

It’s a reference to the American football player Shedeur Sanders. He has a song called perfect timing. Kelman posted it on his story.

Anderson’s biggest learning curve has been getting up to speed with the pace at this level. In youth football he stood out because he always seemed to have time on the ball. It’s a big step up in pace at pro Championship level. For me he’s showing all the signs of being capable of doing so.
