If England win I hope it won't cover up the problems we've had in this series.2

England win by 4 wickets.
First win in Australia since January 2011.0 -
For perspective on how long it’s been:The last time England won a Test match in Australia, Chris Powell hadn’t yet been appointed manager of Charlton Athletic.
Charlton have had 20 managers (including caretakers) in that period.8 -
A Christmas miracle0

Woke up when the scores were level. I was expecting the game to be over.0

Sounds like I need to find the highlights for this because the whole thing sounds totally bizarre in the best way? Going to be some very unhappy suits at Cricket Australia with their flagship test of the summer going 2 days because the pitch was horrendous.0
-
First of all, thanks @Callumcafc for all the updates.
A bit of pride restored. The match was nicely set up for Bazball and it got us through to victory. This was our "shit or bust" moment as the pitch simply wasn't conducive to batting in a way that is aligned to traditional Test cricket. That doesn't undo all the wrongs of this tour and if anything shows that there isn't much between the sides but it's great to hear the Barmy Army to find their voice.2 -
Another word in defence of Carse. The guy has, undoubtedly, bowled too many bad balls in the series and has been expensive but the one thing that he has consistently done is take wickets - 19 wickets now at 25.57 and only Starc has more (he has 26 and he has bowled 49 more balls). Atkinson has had consistently better spells but, by comparison, has taken just 6 wickets at 47.33.2
-
If Atkinson has done a hammy and Jofra has gone home - Matty Potts might actually get to play the 5th test....2
-
The shortest five-match Test series, in terms of balls delivered, is 7,664. This series has had a total of 5,571 so the final Test needs to have 2,093 balls (348.5 overs) for it not to be the shortest ever. That said, it's likely to be the best of the pitches which might be handy for those that predicted/are holding wagers that the series would be 3-1 to Australia!

One other boring stat to consider - how many four innings matches has there been, before this one, where no batter has hit a 50?0
-
To have two 2-day pitches in four games is a disgrace1
-
Anyway - take that Glenn McGrath
5-0 my arse4
