The Coventry goal that a few are claiming TC was at fault for - look where he is when we are going forward and how he sprints to get back after Berry gives it away cheaply.

No way was he at fault for their goal. As I said on the post match thread, Berry is a liability and gave the ball away far too easily/softly.

TC was pushing up to support the attack as he should have been doing and they countered very impressive having won the ball off Berry.

Dealing with that sort of attack is exactly why we're missing Edwards
Probably would have gotten in front of the attacker, and won a foul, with the cross never coming in
Maybe not if he was getting forward as TC did?

Edwards wouldn’t have gotten as far forward as TC has so the goal wouldn’t have happened but it’s still not on TC berry stupidly losing possession in that area

Could any of the Campbell fan club point out anything positive he has done during the first half. Really losing patience with him. It’s like playing with 10 players.

I’d maybe rewatch the half. He’s doing absolutely fine for someone playing out of position at left wing back. We started the game well and most of our attacking play was going through him, he has had the beating of his man a couple of times, and linked up well with Costello. Defensively been solid enough for a non-defender. Got bullied off the ball a bit for the goal but was 2v1 so could have done with a team mate backing him up

    I'll bite...
He's already won us a couple of corners
Linked up well with Costello at the start, only for a poor Berry touch, has linked well with Kelman too
Had our first effort on target
Are you sure you're not watching Sheff Utd's Campbell, I dont think he's having much of a game today

I've not been watching the game. But as a neutral perspective, the guy watching us for Soccer Saturday (Sunday?) described him as a real threat.

How about the pass to leaburn that went behind him and berry? We scored from it 🤣
And the strength shown when they scored their first?

His pace and dribbling going forward helps us up the tempo and gives us a wide outlet.

I rate Fullah but I get why he’s not thrown in out of position at his age.

Apter is an option but he’d also be out of position.

    Who would you play there?

He started off the move for the goal in case people have forgotten

If you seriously think he’s done nothing good that half then I’d suggest that either football isn’t for you, or you’ve got a dislike of TC that is really clouding your judgement

He has some good moments but he isn't good enough (yet) at this level to be playing as much as he is. Defensively he's a hindrance and he doesn't produce anywhere near enough goals/assists for someone who has the ball as much as he does in the final third.

Could be a quality squad player but as a sole focal point he's not quite up to it.

The one other frustration from him today, was early in the second half where the ball came into their box, but you always felt that the Defender was getting there ahead of him to clear, whereas as someone said at the time, you'd have had faith in Kelman to bury that.
Equally annoying, given that minutes later, he attoned by putting in a wicked cross, that again could have ended up in a third goal for us, only Jones on that occasion forgot that he was defending the wrong box and got in the way.

Campbell is being made to play in a totally unnatural position. So not surprisingly he wont look as effective.

if a team bought him and played to his strengths then you would see a different player.

This witch-hunt is doing my head in. What about Gillesphey’s awful passes out that kept putting us back under pressure? What about the fouls needlessly given away by Jones, Bell, Coventry? What about Carey stinking the place out resulting in us losing the midfield? None of them are perfect if you have an agenda.

It was primarily Gillesphey today his shakiness seemed to unnerve our entire team.

Huge overload on the right. TC in the box with time. Bree offering an overlap. Four or five players in the box. And he cannons it off the defender's shins.

Weegie every player is getting slagged off currently on the forum today, probably bar Leaburn. It's not a 'witch hunt' to point out that TC isn't currently being effective.

If a team came and bought him they would have scouted him from a YouTube video, because he’s not doing enough for a full report.

You're probably right. With Berry also starting it was like having 9 players!

No idea why we cant just play a back 5 of

Bree  Burke  Jones  Gillesphie and Bell at wing back, he did fine there when he played there.  Yes Gillesphie is shit but least its a back 5 of defenders.

TC needs to be kept away from defence. He is a winger not a defender not a striker but a winger. Jones doesn't like wingers so he shouldnt be playing him in this formation.

Well considering Macca put in a generational stinker and Bell is a huge injury risk, when he does play wingback because of the workload and if he gets injured it’s TC and Macca on the left that should answer the question

Not good enough defensively to play wing back and not enough end product to play as an inside forward. He is a decent option on the left of a front 3, but we are never going to play that formation under Jones, so I don't see where he fits in.

Playing a winger/forward at left wing back. What do you expect.
