I thought the team did well, worked hard and were unfortunate to concede the third when we had a head of steam up, a lucky ricochet and they break on us. On the injuries, Bell limped towards the tunnel and it looked more like an ankle injury, possibly impact, than a strain, Campbell was cramping up and that was a no -brainer. On the goalkeeper front, quite a few people on here declaring that Mannion should start, he did well Mannion but he had enough to do as Chelsea created plenty of chances, I think people need to remember Kaminski's performance against Coventry as well. A word for Tyreece and Miles tonight, they have been the butt of some criticism over the weeks, they looked a class above tonight, and please nobody bite on 'Ronnie's silly mark for Tyreece, he does it to annoy. Well done Charlton, now on to the window.7

That was a reminder of how much I disliked Chelsea back in our Premier League days. Commentary team on TNT were unbearable.
I thought we did ok and didn't deserve to get hit for 5. The goal in front of the Covered End was a great moment
Play with that amount of commitment in our remaining home games we will stay up, providing we get some reinforcements.8 -
lets see what match of the day say1
-
We played very well in the first half against superior opposition right up to the first Goal.
we were very poor in the second half and at 1-3 that should have been it
but we completely gave up then gave away a penalty and a final goal.
never thought we would win but I thought we would have tried harder and shown some passion!!5 -
I heard TNT sports missed half of the fire display with adverts1
-
Had missed the Millwall score….feel better now lol2

Embarrassing1

I thought the manner in which we conceded goals 3 and 4 took the gloss off of an admirable performance. Plus Bell getting injured again.
Gulf in class was evident throughout and even more so when we made some of our subs.0 -
Bell's injury looked like a hamstring tear to me.

How many times have Charlton beaten a team from a higher division in the FA Cup? I go back to the mid 60s and I can't remember too many ... actually I can't remember any - but that may be the whisky talking.golfaddick said:I hate modern day football & pity all those of you born after 2000.
40 years ago we would have attacked them from the off. Keeper would have kicked the ball downfield & our front men would have fought for the ball. Chelsea would then attack & would probably score. But they wouldn't spend 10 mins passing it fucking sideways going nowhere.
I remember the FA Cup tie against Spurs in 1981. Held them a draw at The Valley & narrowly lost at WHL. (There were replays in those days & it was delayed a few times due to heavy snow). None of this keep ball for 10 mins looking for an opening.
This evening was a poor advertisement for football.imo.
I thought we did what we do tonight, we gave it a go, we left everything out on the field and I rewarded my team with applause as they left the pitch - you can't ask for more.
However, the gulf between a good League One side competing in the Championship and a good Premier League team is frightening.
Our owners have done OK, but they need to wake up and smell the coffee. Look at Birmingham, look at Wrexham. The Championship isn't a league to pissball around in using your loose change. The fireworks, DJ and lighting were good tonight, but if you really wanna put on a show, spend the money.12 -

Macclesfield seemed to cope in their game.Fortune 82nd Minute said:Nothing to be ashamed of. The strength in depth of the chelsea squad led to a gap in class we could never realistically compete with.
Mannion and Leaburn our best players. Mannion made some super saves and Leaburn put in a performance tonight that must once again put him in the sights of bigger clubs.
The injury to Bell a concern. We really need some left sided defenders in urgently.
And yup, I still detest Chelsea.1 -
NJ in his post match interview is either sending a message to the fans to say don’t worry we know we need players and we’re working on it, or he’s sending a message to the owners to get the money out, hope it’s the former. The club are in a good position to consolidate this season but they need to act aggressively on it.1

it does matter, as well as the injuries the moral of the team must have dropped off a cliff tonight, it has been fragile for a while now.Sword65pf said:Really good effort, obviously too good for us in the end, it really doesn’t matter. Miles was very good tonight, we really need the owners to help out and push some signings over the line, we needed fresh blood before the game,we now need them more.5 -
Luckily NJ and the team will look at tonight and be more realistic about the whole situation. What matters is the league and they all know it.msomerton said:

Not really, the right hand trough has been flooding the last 3 games when the stand is a quarter full. With a full crowd it was overflowing and properly puddling piss 15 mins before ko, leaving the left hand side queuing 12 deep all the way back to the taps.Dazzler21 said:
Might want to look at your fellow fans for that.golfaddick said:PWR.
Don't know what to think after that. My emotions are all over the place. Angry, annoyed, pissed off and feeling sorry for the lads - didn't deserve that scoreline at the end.
Will need to cool down before I post sensibly but all I will say is this.....we certainly need a LWB by next Saturday.
Oh......and the club is a shambles. Toilet block in the AC stand had a floor full of piss. Cant use 2 of the cubicles or the far end urinal unless you want to be able deep in the stuff.
Utterly shambolic on & off the pitch. We have 27k seats but we just don’t have the space nor the facilities to cope comfortably with 27k crowds12 -
and the moral of that story is .....msomerton said:

Or maybe just reviewing the game, and not “sending messages” to anyone…Sword65pf said:NJ in his post match interview is either sending a message to the fans to say don’t worry we know we need players and we’re working on it, or he’s sending a message to the owners to get the money out, hope it’s the former. The club are in a good position to consolidate this season but they need to act aggressively on it.1 -
Great to see the Valley full. That’s about it.4

I know I will get laughed at moaned at whatever but that was a dog shit performence against a shit Cheslea team. Most underdogs play at a 100 mile an hour to hassle them into a mistake we done fuckall, just a typical nothing performence like we have been producing for the last few months. Maccelsfield would have given this lot more to think about then the powder puff shit we offered today. Jones wouldnt play Gough against and Blackburn when Burke was injured but played him today and yet there is still no room for Fullah to play, pathetic.13

Talking about needing a good window isn’t reviewing the game he did review the game by expressing his disappointment about how we defended the 2nd and 3rd goals, so what’s you’re point.SporadicAddick said:

Go to bed mate. You've clearly had a long and emotional day.Nicholas said:I know I will get laughed at moaned at whatever but that was a dog shit performence against a shit Cheslea team. Is anyone able to explain the entire stadium booing Garnacho? I get he’s a bit full of himself but you’d have thought he’d killed someone by the reception he got. When I asked people why they hated him so vehemently, all I got was a slurred “He’s petulant and posts too much on social media”. Never seen anything like it in all my life. Bizarre.4 -

I think it was because he was one of the only ones anyone had actually heard of. Besides Caicedo the rest of their team was ponyElliotCAFC said:PWR

This is pretty much where I am. For me we showed them far too much respect first half and from 15 mins just sat deep letting have the ball and hope we could keep the penalty box tight. But anytime we managed to get the ball in their half we either lost it immediately or ‘horseshoed’ it backwards around our wing backs and back 3.Ilovelondontown said:I’m a little disappointed, don’t think we had a real go at them, appreciate the gulf in quality etc 1st half I get it kept it reasonable safe 0-1 down 2nd half one off game come out and have a go, but it seemed like we were still playing safe, just my my opinion, really hope those injuries are not serious otherwise we are in deep shit.Picked up a bit 2nd half but altogether, the gulf was outrageous. I expected their 1st team to dominate play that much but I didn’t expect their reserves to.I had hoped we’d put it up them a bit, make it awkward and been a bit more Wrexham v Forest, but we didn’t really land a glove. 74% possession and over 30 shots, 16 on target.I don’t think being out the cup this year with where we are and with our squad is a bad thing, but I expected a bit more from us tonight. I bet Rosenior didn’t expect it to be have been so routine.Miles by far and away our best performer of the night, if there’s to be one positive the let’s hope he gets the confidence to build from that.16
