According to this Sheff Utd account Clarke was one of their targets.

Wary of players with recent poor injury records.

    Wary of signings from Ipswich.

Fingers crossed I'm wrong and he's good.
    Lol

Yeah that Darren Bent must make us wary. He was way too exciting for us. I heard of people getting carried away, forgetting to note train numbers correctly, spilling their coffee on their rug and all sorts of disasters.
Golfie cheered a goal once and Large managed to lock the toilet door. It was way too much excitement for everyone.
Matty Holland as well - complete waster!

How many years ago where they, people are now worried because of our recent experience of signings from Ipswich. You are talking ancient history.
I was 46 when we signed Matty Holland - and that's ancient history?
    F*ck me - I am old!

I’m sure you’ll find it helpful to know I was 4 years old Bob
    Whippersnapper...😉

Pleased with that. Much needed. Let’s hope he hits the ground running
Probably hit the ground, twist his knee and be out for the rest of the season knowing our luck.
Check out his injury record, it ain't great. Hopefully not another crock.🤔

Yep. Recent signings like Ladapo, Fraser, Camara & Ahadme have been a disaster. Most fans remember them, a lot of fans were not around when we signed Holland, Bent & Hreidersson.
I was around, just if you have to go back 20 years for a decent signing from a club, whereas there's 5 recent ones that were poor, there's reason to be wary!

I'm more wary of the recent injury record given the injuries to Bell, Burke and Edwards.

Hope I'm wrong and he proves to have been a great signing.

Colleague of mine supports Ipswich and said he loves him and he is very much a Jones style player. Good going forward but got the odd clanger in him, physically strong and fast. Gives 100% every game.

Even Premier league players have the odd clanger occasionally.
As long as they are few and far apart the rest all sounds quite positive.

    Surprised noone's mentioned Ray Crawford.
    I liked his first album.
I liked his goal at millwall back in the dark ages, for all you young kids it's on a film thing called MyTube or something

Jones says that Clarke has been training fully for the last 15 weeks. Will need to be sensible around minutes for the first few games but no problems in terms of his fitness

Pre match interview here. Interesting he was at the Chelsea game and no one spotted him

Quote from the club on the tweet makes it sound like he’ll be ready to go immediately.

He says he is and Cawley said he'd been training for 15 weeks so he must be fit, if not match fit

Wow he must be shit if we're already sending him back to Ipswich

I was in Stroud yesterday attending a relatives funeral.
Before starting the journey home I decided to call in at Sainsbury’s where I bumped into an Ipswich fan wearing a club hat.
I mentioned that we had just signed Clarke, he wasn’t aware of it.
He said he should do well for us and his main concern was that he wanted to see him back with Ipswich in time for next season.👍

Impressed with him today. Puts in a good cross and does it early too. Looked rusty to start with but improved as the game went on and didn't cramp up once despite not playing competitive football for yonks

Promising debut. Doesn’t look particularly like he’ll be a downgrade on Bree and potentially an upgrade.

Steady performance from him today but playing against a side that operates centrally and playing against a tired 9 man team 2nd half far too early to call

I thought he looked decent and at least tried, unlike virtually everyone else, to generate some forward momentum with his passing and runs

You always like the new signing’s. I thought he was average steady Eddie. How did you think Campbell did when he came on as Sub ?

Thought he did well today .
  • Poor first half along with everyone else apart from Kaminski and Jones.

Much better second half and was a threat going forward.

Decent debut overall. Didn't do much wrong and put in a couple of dangerous crosses. Not really a Small-style attacking wing back but that's as expected.

    I thought he looked decent.

Won quite a few headers in the first half going forward, but most of them seemed to be when he was jumping against our own players. I guess they all just need to get used to another a bit more.

He's the type that we really need here on a permanent contract
Unfortunately I fear that he'll prove his fitness with us, will dust of any rustiness ...
AND then be snapped up by a bigger/richer outfit
