    Okay probably surprises me a little, rather thsn confuses me... But there isn't a thread for that sort of thing... But submitted a first Passport application for my Son yesterday, and the amount of Docs they need. 
    For some reason they only require the Birth Certificate for one parent, but the Birth and Marriage Certificates for all Grandparents?

    Sounds odd. Are you sure you have that right? The guidance online says (for a postal application admittedly) you need:

    • the child’s full birth or adoption certificate (the one with parent’s details on it)
    • proof that your child has British nationality (for example a British registration certificate, parent’s passport details or parent’s birth certificates)
    • any valid passports from a different country belonging to the child
    • any court orders relating to the child (for example, that describe parental responsibility or residency arrangements)

    So not as you seem to describe?

    As an aside I was impressed that I renewed my passport and it was all actioned within 8 days ie new one back to me (and that was sending my old passport in via 2nd class post). No complaints at all.

    Saving up again for a future visit. I suspect for a number post Christmas it was a choice on which to spend money on.

    Is that perhaps only applicable if it’s a grandparent applying and not a parent ?

    Seems odd otherwise.

    I have both a Apple watch and a linked Blink camera security system.

    On yesterday's pooch walk I received the following new messages, which rather freaked me out!

    "someone is in your garden carrying a large black container" then 2 mins later
    "someone is in your garden carrying a plant pot" ..

    got home and the missus is tinkering in the garden with a watering can ...

    "someone is in your garden playing with a small dog"

    appears that we had just been upgraded to the Blink AI identification service on a trial basis. I was half expecting a message
    "some fat git has just wandered slowly into your garden, being dragged by a small dog"

    We wont be keeping the AI.

    Yonks ago, the BBC were reporting on a spate of sex attacks there and the headline said “DR Congo Rape”. I was in a pub when this came on TV with no sound. They were interviewing someone and my mate started pissing himself as he thought the bloke they were interviewing was called Doctor Congo Rape. 
    It has been recanted a few times in the WC already.

    A notorious self-publicist and peddler of "populist" hokum can resign as a Westminster MP in order to stand again in the resultant by-election, primarily for the purposes of self publicity and the peddling of anti-establishment hokum, all at the tax payer's expense.

    An entirely unrelated observation: how often does MSM fall for the transparent tactic  of people in public life throwing a rancid "dead cat" on to the table of media attention when scrutiny focuses on troubling aspects of their backstory?  "look over there, there's nothing interesting back here..."

    Forgot to mention it the other day but I'm sure we have 1 or 2 that know all about face masks who could help.

    Walked past a lady at Chessington the other day walking around with a covid like face mask on. However, this one had 2 little nostril holes and a hole for her mouth and no I'm pretty sure it wasn't a gimp mask.

    The number of people on our road who have spent today Jet washing their drive or washing their cars with the announcement of the hosepipe ban coming in from tomorrow. Whilst I completely get why they're doing it what confuses me is how they are doing it during the day? Have they all managed to take a day off at one days notice just to wash the car? How are they managing this?

    Spent the morning jet washing the driveway then giving the car a bit of a clean, all this while a curtain twitcher peered from his nets when I’m sure he should’ve been working! 😉

    Edit: Actually just complying with regulations "for office workers using Display Screen Equipment (DSE), government health and safety guidelines recommend taking frequent, short breaks—such as 5 to 10 minutes every hour"
