Circumstances couldn't have much better for him for his first 90min in a long long time. Bit of intense defensive action for 35-40 min. Then plenty of the ball with no real press or pressure for the next 50min. Ideal little knock about.

Thinking about it, for the next 3.5 month mini season, he is probably better suited than Bree for what we need. Played at the top end of the Championship and is first and foremost and defender. A proper scrapper but can get forward as well if need be. A bit Solly-esque if you like.

Think he will be good for us.

You could describe Bree exactly the same I think

I think he’s a good addition - can’t see him doing another 2 full games this week though without something falling off - not that he looks fragile, far from it, just that he hadnt played much and it’s generally accepted that modern day footballers will pull or twist something if they play more than 90 minutes a week

Genuine Championship quality. Got this one very right.

Just pleased we actually passed the ball to him rather than him screaming for it and being ignored. Think Coady made a big difference with that as he reads the game well

Thought he was the best player on the pitch today. Hope Ipswich go up otherwise I can see them wanting to keep him in their squad now he is fit

The pedigree was always decent. The worry is his fitness and we’ve be burned so much in the last half-decade by injuries that it’s hardly surprising fans are a bit jaded and negative about signing players with patchy injury records.

I’m not going to get too carried away yet as we’ve seen a good few players start well with us this season and then suffer a drop off (his predecessor Bree being a fine example of this) but so far he looks a good player and potentially an upgrade on the aforementioned player he has replaced in the squad.

    Very solid game today.
  • Really pleased with this one. Hopefully someone we can look to keep as well if we do stay up.
    Sign him up

Apparently Ipswich are letting Johnson and Young go in the summer so he will automatically be there backup RB next summer. Even if we don’t get him back if he can help keep us up this season will more than thank him for his time in a Charlton shirt

Desperately need Ipswich to go up if we’re to stand a chance of keeping him, even then there would be a fee needed

Really rate this guy. Think he may end up being the best of the lot from recent signings.

Much better relationship with Ramsay today, the two of them linked up well together.

Really impressed with his crossing.  He clearly is trying to pick people out in the centre, rather than just whacking it across.

Where would you give it to him?

What a player at this level a proper wingback, his crossing was top tier. Plus he isn't fully fit yet I think there is more to come, great addition.

Really like Clarke, doesn't feel like a loan player if you know what I mean. Hope we can sign him permanently.
  • He seems to have a positive attitude with the ball, rather than waiting on it, he looks to play a forward pass, or an early cross, which is leading to much needed improvement when we are on the attack.

Love this bloke. What are our chances of getting him on a perm?

If Ipswich go up, as good a chance as any I’d have thought, I really like him, love how he lets people know what he thinks and backs it up with his play.

They have arguably four right backs on their books at the moment: Furlong, Johnson, Young and Clarke.

I imagine Young will leave them in the summer regardless of which division they are in, brings Clarke up to third choice behind Furlong and Johnson.

If they get promoted I would guess they’ll want a new first choice right back which pushes Clarke back down the pecking order.

If they don’t get promoted, I could see one of Furlong or Johnson moving on and they keep Clarke as a back up option for the bloke that they retain.

    Yup, great addition
  • Think he was one of our best players last night. Just a shame Carey didn’t play him in that time. Looks better than Bree and his dodgy crosses to me

I mean Bree started off like a rocket at first before his form dropped. I like the look of Clarke a lot but we need him to maintain this form now, having decent WBs on both sides is absolutely integral to our better performances.
