Think we need to have as strong a defensive shape as possible. And as much experience on the pitch as we can get

                       Kaminski
            Burke   Jones   Gillesphey
    Clarke        Coventry         Chambers
              Costello    Docherty
                 Leaburn   Kelman

Wouldn’t mind Dykes for Leaburn just for a bit more experience, but I like the Leaburn & Kelman partnership that seemed to be developing.

Midfield is defensive, but plan should be to keep it tight and then get Carey and TC on from the bench to win it (*try and rescue a point)

Even when we are on top, something happens to tip it the scumbags way.

This is the most convinced I've been that they'll beat us. So this is when we win 5-0

    The rest is history.

I have seen Charlton win twice at Millwall, Dave Shipperly and Peter Shaw scoring in a two nil win and by the same score in the snow, both were against the worst two Millwall sides I have ever seen, that will not be the case on Saturday. I can't for the life of me see Charlton getting anything other than a slap, The team? I want Chambers to be a ready fit but I think that will take time so I don’t think he will start, so the only player worth the name of 'threat' Tyreece Campbell, will start off as wing back. I didnt think the midfield were that bad the other night, but I would change Anderson for Rankin Costello. Up front it couldn't have been much worse but Nathan Jones might think that the physical nature of Leaburn and Dykes is what's required. Taking all that into account there has been mention of a formation change, if that's the case couldn't think of a better game to try it in, NOT. As in all these Millwall games, if you don't match they and their fans intensity then you will get rolled over, badly, that sadly, is my prediction.

As other pundits have opined, why sit back to an inevitable defeat? Up and at 'em with emphasis on how WE play not them. so 3-4-3

    Kaminski
    Burke Jones Chambers
    Clarke Coventry Rankin-Costello
    Apter Dyke Godden

    Finishers @ 65 minutes
    Fullah,Carey, Leaburn, Campbell, Ramsay

Worth a try especially as everyone else is EXPECTING a thrashing what ever team we put out!
Nobody will be EXPECTING us to start with ten men

People who haven’t put this game as one of their predictions are disrespecting the competition by not taking it seriously.

I remember having food poisoning in Egypt. The most agonising cramps, sickness and diarrhoea imaginable. Begging and bartering for medicine. Having as much control over my bowels as Stevie Wonder would driving an F1 car. The towel-art swan looking like it had been dredged from a muddy canal.

I suspect I’ll look back on that experience more fondly than I will this game.
But would you take that experience again in return for a win - the Devil is asking!

Fucking hell everyone, they're not that good. I know, I know, recent history, the wood over us, blah blah. But...they're not that good.

Come on Charlton, you failed as underdogs against Chelsea, this is your chance to make amends.
PS Kayne you owe us for last time.
PPS Lyndon instant hero status if you knock in a couple.

Agree but we are bad , really fucking shit , useless in fact and reliant on Lady Luck to get anything, well Lady Luck is a snob and has left town and won’t go anywhere near the unwashed masses at Zampa New Old Dirty Den

Its also on Sky Sports Football, rather than Sky Sports Plus, so there will be no stream available via. CharltonTV

Those of us abroad will be fine

Big away win. Jones goes mental with the longest knee slide of the century
  • I was at the Den that day to witness our 2-0 win. I seem to remember it was a bit on the chilly side but red hot on the pitch ! You know who you are Kim Grant ! Chants of we beat the scum 2-0 ringing out as we walked out the ground & then suddenly surrounded by 50 year old blokes who decided they didn’t like being called scum for some reason ! Anyway we lived to tell the tale & looked forward to the next victory against them…..
can it be Saturday? Probably not but always expect the unexpected when you support the mighty reds. And our run  has to end sometime right ?  We don’t score many these days so let’s go for a 1-0 late winner. At 72 who knows how many more I’ll be seeing so I’m thinking we are by law of averages due another win !

I can’t see NJ switching to a back four. Suspect it’ll be Clarke, Ramsay, Burke, Gilly, Chambers. Switch Lloydy for Burke if he’s fit. I’m being wildly optimistic and going for a 2-1 away win mainly because I won’t be there for the first time since about 1980 so they are sure to do it out of spite.
I wont be there either ........first time since Dec 1995 in the snow. And you know what happened that evening.

So you know who to thank when we come home winners on Sat 😉

Do you know what, it would be so Charlton to win on Saturday, after such a dismal run - yeah I’m going for a CAFC win (and I’m there Saturday)
In previous seasons id agree but since we lost to Wrexham, there's little to show we could pull off an upset of any kind.

My peerless optimism is starting to run slightly dry at the moment but as others have said it would be very Charlton to nick it.

If we play four at the back then I hope for the life of me Macca is not starting LCB - love the guy but in a two CB set up left footer is less essential and we have considerably better options.

But realistically Jones does not pick this fixture to abandon his formation. Think Chambers comes straight in, Macca at LCB, Jones or Burke central depending on whether Jones is is fit and then hopefully Clarke RWB and Ramsay RCB.

Cov is a no brainer, would love to see JRC back starting (been a bit weird from Jones to jokingly say he f'd up not playing him more and then freeze him out again), Carey has looked back to his best self on the ball and driving.

Would probably start Leaburn and Kelman, with TC and Dykes to come on at 60 and take advantage of tired legs, but of course if there is an opportunity for Matty Godden to fully announce his return with a golf swing in front of the away end at the Den then would absolutely love to see it

Look, I mean, first and foremost, you can't defend like that at this level. That'll keep me awake at night because I thought we played well enough to get something out of the game. We were compact, our discipline was good, we stuck to our game-plan. Could we have done more in the final third? Possibly. We took our goal very well, with a little bit of luck I thought we could have pushed on from there because I thought our work-rate was excellent...

    4-1 Millwall.

I think NJ has been treating this game with the importance many managers in the past haven’t
It is no more important than any other three points. Managers will not jeopardise their jobs by getting drawn into pathetic adolescent vendettas.
