Under Jones our best runs of form have come with a settled team. The constant chopping and changing at the moment - some of it enforced by injury - makes it clear that Jones doesn't know his best team. Some players need a run in the team to feel trusted and for their confidence to grow. I know bad performances mean players may get dropped, but I would prefer to see a settled team of the players we know can perform at this level.

Like others I am miffed by the disappearance of JRC, Apter and Docherty. While I don't think JRC will play like he did against Oxford every week, he showed enough to be given a longer run than he got; he was also purchased with the promise of versatility and yet I don't remember seeing him play more than a few minutes at RWB? I wonder if we may see him there as the season goes on.

I think Anderson has a role to play and wasn't as bad as some are making out, but he isn't ready to be starting at this level regularly.

Dykes appears very one dimensional and I don't think he's particularly good at that skill, anyway. Hopefully Fullah is trusted as the season progresses. We only need to be the fourth worst team in the league and I still think that is achievable. Crowd were a lot better last night and the effort shown by the players in the second half has hopefully shown them / Jones that we need to start games with that ambition and drive. We no longer have the defensive unit to sit back and soak up pressure like we did earlier in the year. But we DO have the attacking talent to scare teams. Let's give it a go!
he's the bloke you bring on with 20 mins left when you are 1-0 up and tell him to chase and harry everything, get in their faces and be a nuisance - but that's about it at the moment. His passing is awful, slow, tedious and sideways
Definitely agree that is the role he is most suited to, and ideally higher up the pitch. I do think he looks better as the game goes on and it opens up, but that is probably because he needs a lot more time on the ball than others. He is not a player we should be trying to use to start moves or build out from the back with but for some reason Jones seems to think he is; when Cov went off v Derby / didn't start v Sheff Utd he was the only one showing for the ball with any regularity. I think he would benefit hugely from a loan move to get regular football - ideally at L1 level.

PWR. I thought TK should have come out and cleared the ball to snuff out the danger before their second.
He should have magicked it into their goal as well, and brought about world peace, and cured cancer. We have a lot of problems right now and TK isn't one
I ventured an opinion, no need for the sarcasm.

I have now seen it back from the other side of the pitch and the ball didn't fly as far forward as it looked from the main stand. So I stand corrected.

We have fickle fans…I know the football is not great but there was not even 10k there last night…stadium looked empty….
16200+ according  to the club. Must be the lowest attendance yet in a league match this season.
I think winter midweek games are a hard ask, I'd rather we played more midweek games up to the start of November and suspended them till the start of March. I drive up from Canterbury, I could travel up by train, but waiting around for trains in the cold is not good, get one cancelled and it becomes battle to get home. The forecast was for heavy rain and they were not wrong, it was a difficult journey back, still at least on the way back my team gave me some wonderful moments to keep me warm ......Wankers !
I drive up from Sittingbourne and when I can make midweek games I’ve needed to leave earlier and earlier each season. It’s quite a tight turnaround from work and if I have to get up particularly early, as I did today, I don’t go. I’m guessing the number of our fans who travel a distance has something to do with it, add in the end of January, the weather and the fact most people’s finances are running on fumes post Christmas and I’m not surprised attendance dropped. I don’t think it’s because people are fickle.
Likewise,I come from Chatham,I have a booked space for saturday games but not for midweek,so really,at 82 years old dont want a mile walk there and back in the pissing rain. Also you can pretty much guarantee the A2 will be shut somewhere, meaning a really poor journey home especially if the game has been crap.
Why not try the Valley Express coach, it picks up at Chatham at 12.50 for 3pm KO and 17.35 for evening KO.  It drops you just the other side of the Ransom Walk tunnels.  After the match it'll never leave without you and wont be cancelled, unlike the train.   I come on the Ramsgate one having switched to it for the last game of last season.  I bought a season ticket for this season so dont have to book every time.  It works out at £13 a match with that, and gets me back before the train would.

I’d echo this. I come up on the Bexhill coach. No worrying about parking, short walk to the ground and back afterwards, £13 if you buy the season ticket.

Derby, first season after promotion, were bottom of this league less than 12 months ago. Still a long way to go and no reason why we can’t be in their shoes 12 months from now.
  • For the record, I ain't fickle. I had the flu. Would have liked to have witnessed TC's goal, at least.

Have thought about this ,but my wife is also a season ticket holder,so I would have two fares to pay, plus it goes from Chatham Station which is a car ride from my house and would cost me £5-6 to park the car so if i attended all 23 games it is around £700 a year on top of 2 season tickets.Might give it some more thought for next season,as it is a much more relaxing way of travelling.

It is much more relaxing than the walk and concentrating on driving through the traffic with no worries about getting there in time. I get your point about parking too, I don't have that problem, wife drops me at the station, if not 25 min walk, and coming home the coach passes my house on the way back to its depot so drops me there.  I also save £5 on the petrol cost.  I can also have a kip on the way home.

It's a long way from North Devon to pick up the coach at Ramsgate isn't it?
