His insistence of playing Campbell at left wing back as he done again 2nd half yesterday is absolutely baffling.
Even a blind person can see it doesn't work and I can only assume he keeps doing it through stubbornness.
    Pisses me off.
He does it because there is no one else to play there. Do you really think he wants to play him there?
    He could change the system.
What system doesnt involve us playing a Left-Back at all?
Who said anything about not playing a left back?
    Yeaaaa... You've lost me now...
TC plays Left Wing-Back, because Chambers is now our sole actual player in that position, and TC is the only alternative that can really play there... Changing the system, still requires us to play a Left-Back OR Left Wing-Back which is Chambers or Campbell. Otherwise it comes back to Naby's question... Who else do you play there

That doesnt involve changing the system as per your original comment then
Otherwise why didnt you just say "Play a Right-Back out of position there" when replying to Naby

Yes we have to play a left back - but where in the football manual does it say that left backs have to be left-footed? Some of the greatest left backs of all time were right-footed - Santos, Fachetti and arguably the GOAT - Maldini.

Do we not have any right-footed full backs who could play on the left side? Any would likely be better than our current crop of left-footers!
We tried it with both Ramsay and Bree and it was a disaster both times. Clarke looked fine there for 10 minutes yesterday so might be an option

Still have faith in NJ. We are were was expected and IMO not having fit left sided defenders since September has really cost us let’s hope that can be rectified this week enabling us to keep our Championship status which has always been the aim

Because he was talking about TC being the only option to play at LWB.

If you haven't got the players to play a wingback system, change it.
To keep playing Campbell at left wing back is bollox

We don’t have the players to play any system though. That’s the problem when you have no left back fit to play. Campbell at LWB was the least bad solution, it’s not a good solution but what else can we have done this last couple of months? Hopefully now with Chambers and more coming in we won’t have to see it again

I must admit that change at half time yesterday surprised me. Not just for moving TC to lwb but also for bringing off Chambers. I thought he was doing ok and gave us balance on the left side. Add to that the ineptness of our summer signings and you do have to question what is going on. Apter rarely used. Olaofe rarely used. Knibbs rarely used and now out injured. Bree in and out with injuries. Burke in and out with injuries. The central midfield not really strengthened and Rankin-Costello has been in and out..The only player, really, with a bit of class was Bell but he seems to be injury prone as well. So, I’m at a loss really to see where we go from here. I don’t think the answer is to get rid of Jones. Not yet anyway. But, he’s making so many mistakes and his stubbornness is not helping things. I suppose all we can do now is knuckle down and grind things out with what we’ve got. What a mess though. This wasn’t what I was expecting after last season and, supposedly, a good pre season transfer window.

Don’t know if it’s already been stated but if I’m not mistaken NJ took back charge of Luton in 2019/20 season after an unsuccessful stink with Stoke where they were 23rd in the table with 9 games to save their season 5 points from safety.

From then until the end of the season they ended the season 19th W4 D4 L1. They ended up being 3 points clear of none other than ourselves.

If there is any man capable of keeping us up it’s NJ, he’s been here before and done it and I trust him to do it again. I don’t think we should sack him personally.

Those two points dropped at Blackburn and point dropped at Pompey are looking pretty costly today.

If we don't get quality players in this week and the losing continues then he's gone in my opinion. I can see Curtis Fleming taking charge as well.

Yesterday was unforgivable, the worst capitulation against Millwall in 50 years. There fans were saying last night that wasn't even a derby, pathetic and almost sad...

I'm not sure if we can turn this around but there's still hope but it's flipping thin.
We lost 4-0 at The Den in 2010, so our worst capitulation in 16 years. Not quite as bad as all that.Three late goals in that game too to turn it from traditional loss to statistical pasting.

I get your logic, but there is a difference - Luton were 23rd under another manager, Jones has arrived at where we are now under his sole charge.

It’s not only the points we dropped but the fact we allowed Blackburn to earn a point and Pompey to earn all three. Two massive results.

Players who have played left (wing) back for Charlton this season:

    Josh Edwards
    Amari’i Bell
    Kayne Ramsay
    Onel Hernandez
    Tyreece Campbell
    Macauley Gillesphey
    Ibrahim Fullah
    Rob Apter
    James Bree
    Luke Chambers
    Harry Clarke
    Reece Burke

Implying that Jones hasn’t tried different players (left foot / right foot) or systems (back five / back four) is a bit disingenuous.

He had settled on TC at LWB because he deemed it to be the least bad option.

And yet we’re above both in the league. Would’ve been nice if the gap was bigger but I’d still rather be us than be them.
