I thought he looked alright in fairness. Naturally lacking match fitness but dont think he will take long to get up to scratch.Callumcafc said:
I’m reasonably confident he’ll turn out to be one of our best players by the end of the season and everyone will be hoping he comes back next year.charltonbob said:
Not going to happen, Clarke & Dykes probably decent signings FOR US, Luke Chambers just unbelievable nonsense from this football club. Sadly we're deep in the shit & I don't see a way out.ShootersHillGuru said:Not sure this Charlton team have what it takes to stay up. Deficiencies all over the pitch. Manager who every season goes through a period of wearing blinkers. Unless this week brings in some genuine quality then I think we’ll be back down with the dead men next season.

You play someone who is not 100% fit in a local derby to get some game time? Does Jones not realize what this game meant to us fans FFS.0

To be fair mate, if you'd said the opposite I'd have fallen off my chair!Callumcafc said:

That may well be the case, unfortunately he’s not the answer right now, probably get 60 minutes out of him next week, then 3 games in just over a week, so probably it will be half a dozen games before he gets to 90 minutes.Callumcafc said:

It's all been said, but I came away from the Den yesterday thinking I don't think I can put myself through that again.
I actually left early, which I never do, straight after the penalty. It was a relief not to be held in and to get away pretty quickly.
First half we competed without troubling their goal and with them having all the chances.
Second half. Fcuk me, it will take some time to get over that. What a shambles.
Up until now I was sure we had enough about us to achieve what we set out to do, avoid relegation.
Now I am not so sure.
We won nothing in the air. We won no second balls. We were a disorganised, demoralised rabble who chucked the towel in.
It felt like a watershed moment.
Too depressing for words2 -
that is likely to be to late to help to keep us up.Callumcafc said:

Both looked like a right couple of tramps yesterday. I presumed they were getting into character for a new production of Waiting for Godot.soapboxsam said:Gribbo said:Never liked Gary Oldman anyway, overrated Eastenders type, who got lucky somehow, and who the fucks Daniel Day Lewis? Sounds like a 18th century American poet ffs
Not a fan of knighthoods like me Gribbo ?
Gary Oldman (New Cross born) may have said he was a Man United fan but was definitely cheering on Millwall yesterday next to his method acting buddy Daniel Day-Lewis who is the son of Cecil Day-Lewis the Anglo Irish UK poet laureate from 1968-72.
So you were only a couple of hundred years out and CD-L wasn't a yank !
Daniel Day-Lewis first went down the Den when he wanted to study a certain type of Neanderthal for when he played Bill"the butcher" Cutting in 'gangs of New York' (2002)
Daniel feels he has found his tribe when he goes down the Den.
Not a lot of people know this.0 -
Not bad for a playing with a heavily strapped ankle. He showed more fight and determination than everyone dispute his injury. Let's just hope he has not made it any worseaso914 said:
I keep seeing people say this but Lloyd won the majority of his duels on the pitch yesterday. We conceded four so I’m not going to say it was a top performance but he did his job the defenders around him failed him.m_2 said:This game showed the physical dominance of ‘the dark side’ compared with our lightweight players.
The stark difference in the tunnel before they came out said it all. At least half their team were 6ft 6 or + and our lot looked intimidated before they were on the pitch. Lloyd did his best but every other heading challenge was lost and 50-50’s only went one way. We don’t just need more left footed players, we need physically imposing players all over the pitch to survive.

I don't know much about him other than he's had two lengthy lay offs with his back problem. Our problem is we need a LB/LWB NOW not by the end of the season. Playing just 45 minutes on saturday because we have to manage his minutes is just fucking ridiculous. If he can't play 90 minutes NOW why have we signed him ? I honestly don't think I've ever heard of a more ridiculous situation at this football club. I can't believe there isn't an experienced championship LB out there not getting games at his parent club that wouldn't improve our leaky left side.Callumcafc said:

Lady Luck was out of town we’ve been performing shit for ages , this result was inevitable considering the reality of what preceded it .
The bluff is over , we are genuinely inept all over the pitch with a minuscule spattering of quality .
The money spent on transfers that do not get much game time is appalling when you consider the mingeyness of the budget .
We have a manager whose histrionics/passion is all well and good when winning a bit but when you’re on the run we are it can only put the players on edge and make them even less likely to take risks, hence our crabbyness and backwards piddling about and no positive attacking intent from most , Campbell apart .
This season has been heading in one direction for a good while and yesterday many could see what those without rose tinted were pointing out a while back, the euphoria of promotion and that crest of a wave that rode us to a good start long gone.
To be beaten by the great unwashed from Zampa New Dirty Den ex East End North of the river scum is nothing new but the gulf in clubs is a joke. We have been a shambles for years on and off the pitch whilst our nearest and dearest are enjoying the best footballing times in their history .
The new norm is wank and we’re a year in front will become a year behind if we get relegated .
There is time to turn this around but it will require wholesale changes somewhere and a massive rethink because we’re on a one way street to league one as it stands .
A great opportunity could turn in to one of the biggest nause ups in Charlton times with plenty of them.
Keep supporting the boys, that’s all we can do as much as we’re fucking complete guff .
