Freddie Slater confirmed as an Audi Junior
Very smart move. Not that Freddie needs the funding but if Hulk only has a couple of years left then Freddie will be ready.

Massively impressive in the wet this weekend in FROC.

Has finally decided to show up to FROC after a bit of an uncharacteristic performance so far, even in Race 4 yesterday, he got very lucky not to go off when Ugochukwu was chasing him down... The F3 battle should be good fun between those two this year

I like it, just not as a McLaren. Good that it's only a one-off.

Just read a piece on the BBC Sports site about the new changes coming in for the next F1 season. I've never really been in to F1, but will these new changes have a positive impact on the races, more overtaking chances etc.?

Who knows, the difficulty F1 will always have is the fact that its an Engineering Series, the teams will interpret the rules differently, and so design different cars... Budget will also play a massive part.
The best series for watching genuine Single Seater racing are: IndyCar or Formula 2

Remember the name. Jacob’s best friend when he was growing up in karting - Kenzo Craigie - became OKJ World Champion this weekend. Kenzo is on the Mercedes Junior programme - I sold Jacob’s engines to his Dad Paul when he started out.

Kid had a natural talent when he was beating 12-13 year olds when he was 8.

He will be the next British phenomenon when he steps into cars.

Will keep feeding the updates through on Kenzo. Now in his first year in cars, after becoming double world champion again last year in 2 categories to finish his career in karting.

In Dubai in his second weekend in F4 against drivers who raced F4 last season. P1 in final practice out of 40 drivers. The races are streamed live on Youtube. He is the next Hamilton / Verstappen talent of the generation. Currently leading rookie after the first two rounds. He will be in F1 free practice with Merc within 18 months I would think.

Far too early to know but I have a gut feeling Ferrari are going to be the team to beat this season.

Been watching Kenzo with great interest this winter, ever since you first mentioned him @DamoNorthStand
Bondarev and Consani are clearly going to be the standouts in UAE and Italian F4 this coming season, given they've got experience of driving at the level in 2025, but Kenzo at the moment is definitely best of the rest

Yeah the experience of a season in cars means they should be ahead of him ….. but the fact he is outpacing them after 3 races is embarrassing for them and great for Kenzo. It’s like Jolyon Palmer winning GP2 after 3 or 4 years in it. Doesn’t mean he was as good as Leclerc.

One year advantage usually means 10 places plus on the grid…. So it’s looking good

No pressure, but who is your next recommendation through the karting scene after Kenzo now?
I dont really watch below F4, so don't really know how the British talent is doing coming before then, apart from Noah Baglin

We've been out of it for a few years now, so starting to lose touch of the following generation.

The lads Jacob knows and raced against are Freddie Slater, Ethan Jeff Hall, Zac Drummond, Kenzo.... even Ollie Bearman right at the start of our cadet karting career and end of his (J was 9, Ollie was 12 or 13).

Ollies brother Thomas is in F4 but tbh Jacob battered him, and he is pretty pants. But has a decent slug of money behind him.

There is a young lad called Max Endacott who won a world title who is still young, and has very pushy parents behind him which is always a watch out for me.

Oh and he is now racing under the Japanese flag, but Kean Nakamura Berta is decent. One of Jacobs best ever moves was round the outside of him at The British Kart GP at PFI. Jacob started 23rd after his engine went in qualy. Repaired it, and started on inters and roared up from 23rd to 4th in 10 laps before the same engine we thought we repaired let go on the last lap.

So Andy Consani came 13th in French F4 last year (not one of the stronger F4 series). Thats the difference between him and Kenzo.

Kenzo I can wager will come slightly higher than that in F4 in his first season and will be straight in FIA F3 next season.

That would surprise me, given that Mercedes have been putting their kids through Formula Regional first
I think the only thing that worries me about Kenzo is the fact that Mercedes now seem to have a bit of a partnership with R-ACE GP in F4, rather than Prema now as thats who Alex Powell started out with when up against Slater, but switched last season... Prema are on the way down a bit it seems and have monetary issues as looks like they're scrapping their IndyCar team already. But R-ACE despite being bloody strong this time last year in the Middle East, were then very average in Europe with Italian F4... So hoping that won't reflect badly on Kenzo.
But then as we saw with Bearman and Antonelli's promotion to F1 last year, despite an average F2 season in 2024, the F1 teams have access to a lot more data than just Wikipedia results.

TBF I forgot about Formula Regional - could be right.
  • Lovely start to the weekend for Kenzo, gets Pole for both Race 1-3, and takes the win in the first

F1 champion incoming. I have absolutely no doubt.

He’s been to The Valley before as well.

    Another reason to follow him

Can't say I usually care too much about the livery on the cars, but that Williams paint job does look sharp.

Quite hard to keep denying it when you sit next to each other at the Super Bowl
