  • Went to our yearly visit to see the Wonder Stuff last night at Shepherds Bush. Absolute class from start to finish. The band are so talented. Miles Hunt properly on form and a middle aged crowd going bananas who will all ache like I do now.
  • I too have been aching like billio today Greenhithe! Did Miles do the Support Act too?

My first time seeing them last night and a cracking gig. Thought jumping about in a mosh was way past me but couldn’t help but get sucked in!

Looking to do Ned’s Atomic Dustbin in Belfast next year. God help me.

Yep…great sets from both of the bands and home in time to now be watching Madness on BBC2 doing their “Goodbye Television Centre” gig for the Beeb!

Great night tonight with family and @guinnessaddick 🕴🏼🥳

When was the farewell gig at Finsbury Park?

Madstock!  Two days in August 1992. It was billed at the time as the last ever gig, so I bought all the merch I could afford…then the feckers came back in 1994 and just carried on!! 😂  Registered 4.5 on the Richter Scale during One Step Beyond as 35,000 fans bounced up and down. I tried to relive it last night, but my hips can’t last the whole song these days 😂

Saw the Polecats last night in Valencia. They set out at about 7AM, delayed flights and missed connections meant they didn't get to the venue until about half an hour before they were due on stage at 12.30AM. Four sixty-plus year old blokes and they smashed it out of the park.

The return flight was 6AM today...

Life as a jobbing musician, eh?
wow still going! Saw them at the Marquee round about 79/80 … good band

4th year running for us lot. I love them mate. So talented and every song a sing along dance about cracker. Yes Miles band Vent supported. Here’s to next year. I’m still aching like buggery. 59 is no age to jump around.

I saw Biffy Clyro at the O2 on Wednesday.
It was a very good concert.
A shout out to Softplay in support, two boys from Kent who are great entertainment!

It's shame that they felt they had to change their name from the former one, because I don't think it's helped their career. I saw them play the Kentish Town Forum about 7 or 8 years ago and they were fantastic live.

My nephew went and said Softplay were very good, and great company in the bar after. Said that during their set they went in to the crowd and cleared a space for a female only mosh pit.

Went to see Ruby Turner at Ronnie Scott’s. An excellent night and a big shout out for her backing band.

Saw Jools and Bleach 9:3 at Signature Brew in Haggerston this evening.

Bleach 9:3 were ok when they stopped trying to be My Bloody Valentine.

Jools I have seen before and thought they were good. Suffered a bit with a poor mix as the vocals were way too quiet.

As for the venue, an absolute hellish nightmare for me. Hipster Central and wall to wall scene freaks…..

Went to see Dean Friedman at The Pheasantry last week. Just him and a piano or guitar, depending on the song. We just grabbed tickets at the last minute (the last two, as it turned out), not particularly big fans before we got there, but certainly left as fans. Did his UK hit, and his US hit and his song about Half Man Half Biscuit, and the others you didn't know you knew. Some good anecdotes and some songs  to make you cry and songs to make you laugh.

If we had realised this was on, we would have been here instead of Dean Friedman. But we are seeing Natty in Spain in a couple of weeks, so it turned out okay...

Belly were a new one for me, didn’t really know much of there stuff. It was entertaining, but the songs were a bit hit or miss.

Belly were great at Reading back in 98 or 99 (can’t remember which). Listen to the album ’Star.’

  • I saw Anna von Hausswolff at the Electric Brixton. It was quite an amazing experience. I can’t call electronic music my thing but this was something else. The saxophonist was amazing and Anna’s haunting voice over sometimes dark themes makes it a unique experience. Very different, very good and a mesmerising show.

How do people keep an eye on what is coming up? I'm an old git and just bought Cowboy Junkies and earlier got Paul Simon just through luck. Would love to have got David Byrne tickets but never knew till it was too late.

Would love to see David Byrne also.   Need to be following artists on social to see whats coming really.  Also keep an eye 2-3 weeks before the gig as production holds often come up

Did manage to get Kneecap at roguh trade for 30th April this morning.  Will be a mad gig in such a tiny place

I get about 10+ emails telling me what's coming up. Ticketmaster, Dice, Seetickets (all ticket agents) will all send you mailshots, while Spotify is good now at linking you to events. Songkick and Bandsintown are good places, too. You can upload your playlists to these from Spotify and they will tell you when any of your favoured artists are in town. As BalladMan said, also following artists on social media will help. Often, you can get pre-sale tickets if you register as a fan of some artists. If you hear of a show when it's sold out, always check out Twickets and join a waiting list, as you may well get tickets at the last minute - and always at face value or less (with a small fee), unlike the likes of Stubhub where prices can be ridiculous. Hope that helps!
  • Thanks, I do some of those things, I just wondered if someone somewhere had a list. I've bought and sold on Twickets, they are good (most recently 10cc at the Albert Hall, kill me now).

David Byrnes American Utopia was the best gig i have ever seen and I've been to around 400 gigs in my time.
