This has got me thinking, could Ramsay? He can tackle, he is physical, he can carry the ball into the attacking third but is his passing up to itI-SAW-POUSO-PLAY said:Could Collins be a CDM?0 -
Would be desperate to try this out, maybe go and buy a good enough midfieldTodds_right_hook said:

I assume Docherty will go (perm or loan) if we sign another midfielder. It might make sense to loan Gough out, seeing that we have Z Mitchell back (who can't be loaned out).raytreacy said:Three more to come in. Some more to go out.
The situation with Dixon needs to be resolved. He's played for 2 EFL clubs already, so recalling him and finding him a NL loan might be the best bet.3 -

In season 1970/71 Charlton were facing there usual fight to avoid a drop into a division that they left in 1935. Manager Theo Foley, looking for inspiration moved right back Bob Curtis into a central midfield position for the last crucial nine games. Bob plus Paul Went and Keith Peacock were arguably our best players at the time. Bob scored five goals in those final nine games, Charlton pulled clear of the relegation pack and survived another season. The following season Charlton were safely mid table after beating Swindon 3-1 at home, captain and centre half Paul Went scoring two, and followed it with a 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough, sadly both Paul Went and Bob Curtis were injured for the final nine games in which Charlton managed two draws, losing seven, they were relegated with a 5-0 defeat at Blackpool.Sword65pf said:

Reading between the lines, I don’t think this has been seen as a good idea 😂Todds_right_hook said:

Dixon hasn’t played for us so could go back to L2 but I think NL is more realistic anywaykillerandflash said:

Living down in Sussex it sounds like Crawley are far from done with their 13 signings. Really got to sort something out with Dixon because he's going to be nowhere near their squad.fenaddick said:

Maybe doc and Karoy with two midfielders and Collins?0

He played in the EFL Trophy though. I assume that counts?fenaddick said:

I can't see both Docherty and Anderson leaving, we only have 4 fit midfielders for the middle of the park in them 2, Coventry and Rankin-Costello. Sure, Fullah and Carey could play there on occasion, but it's not enough if we get an injury or suspension.
I expect the outs will be Taylor and A.Mitchell sold, Docherty out too, possibly a loan for Gough given the amount of players available in his position, and then Collins, a strong defensive midfielder and lord knows what for the final piece of the puzzle.
I'd want a player like Bell, left footed, can play centre back and wing back, pacy. If not that, I'd want a number 10/striker hybrid, similar to someone like Kellior-Dunn, can play in the hole or up alongside a big man, even drift out to the wing on occasion8 -
Speculation on other site that Mohamadou Kanté could come in on loan from West Ham.
Fits the bill in being the big athletic box to box midfielder we need.19 -
That was only me suggesting by the way as Reams said we are negotiating a loan for a West Ham midfielder and I said he or Lewis Orford would fit the bill. Sorry to burst the bubble. It very well may be him but I was just suggesting and don’t actually know myself.Oh Eddie Youds... said:Speculation on other site that Mohamadou Kanté could come in on loan from West Ham.

Well here's a thing, traditional coaching maintains that a side is stronger within the spine of the team, Dykes, Coady and............maybeTodds_right_hook said:

Do we have someone competent handling the paperwork and fax machine these days? We do not want our new signings turning up at Charleston Battery in South Carolina.
Do you still use fax machines in the UK? The only time I ever hear of them is during transfer windows.3 -
It’s as though Jones knows relegation is a massive possibility and he’s having an almighty roll of the dice to try and save the day. Desperation?4

The David fofana contract has only just come through the fax machine hopefully we can empty it in time.wolfgang said:Do we have someone competent handling the paperwork and fax machine these days? We do not want our new signings turning up at Charleston Battery in South Carolina.

I’ve heard 17 more incoming.13

If we don't get the midfield sorted this transfer window then we'll be looking back at last weekend as the good old days getting bent over the table by Millwall. Next year we could be picking up the soap for Bromley.10
