It’s a right conundrum. Theres a part of me that agrees as his confidence must be through the roof but there is also a part of me that thinks the difference between league 2 and Champo are light years apart.JohnnyH2 said:I would bring him back for the 2nd half of the season1 -
Leave him where he is to play all the games, get to hopefully 15 goals or so and bring him back next season whether we are L1 or Championship.
Dykes will have gone, Godden will be older and possibly past it. Leaburn may well have been sold. There will be space if he is good enough anyway.
Let him then perform well in L2 or the Championship and his value will be more - to us and others.
The academy costs something like £2M a year to run I think I read. If we sell our very best for nott much more than that it becomes less of a financial gain for the club to run it at all.14 -

If they are serious, we need to hold on to him for at least another 18 months.
Too many fans fancy themselves as business-savvy when it comes to their football club, and are part of the reason why the Brighton/Chelsea model is so successful.
If the owners are as serious as we are led to believe (and I believe them), there is no reason on earth why we need to sell Mbick in order to fund an LWB. I increasingly think that Rodwell may be the problem here, he's persuaded them with his spiel that he's a "CEO" when his track record doesn't support that, and he may want to show how "hard" he is sticking to the budget. He probably looks on here and tells the owners that "the fans" are showing understanding of the "financial realities".
Any idiot can sell and cut, replacing with something better is the hard bit, the bit that qualifies you to be a CEO.
Maybe others will start thinking there's some truth in our opinions on this subject....0 -
That last Meet the Board did it for me. I can live with him clearly spending about 10% of his waking hours on his appearance if he talks sense and with respect in such meetings. Warrick, whom I suspect raids his wife’s make up cabinet, just about manages that. But sitting there telling us that Chambers was always no.1 target is taking the piss. There are a fair few reasons why most of us conclude that was bollocks but the most evidential one is NJ’s frequently voiced disdain for the loan market, which I am sure I heard since the last window, and certainly throughout it. I didnt like his answer to my question re Abbott either. It actually made me think that if Abbott did fall out with anyone it might have been with him rather than NJ.Fanny Fanackapan said:

Prague - did he really say that about Chambers? No way on Gods green earth, he was our first choice target, and if he was then that is a shocking lack of ambition on the clubs part.2

If Abbott did fall our with JR & then take his leave, he wouldn't be the first as you're probably aware.0 -
There is a reason our American owners refer to JR as their "hirsute henchman" and it's not just because of his impressive facial hair.Fanny Fanackapan said:

Nothing more than a (hairy) mouthpiece for the yanks.2 -
Well, I’m not in the know, so whom pray tell has also fallen out with Jim Rodwell? Is TL one?Fanny Fanackapan said:

I’ll try and snip the relevant part of the video, if I can work out how to do it ( somebody half my age is welcome to do it in 30 secs.😉) This, and other pearls of Jimdom should be preserved and used in evidence…brownbear said:Prague - did he really say that about Chambers? Umm..err..I suppose there is the possibility that Big Jim was actually telling the truth about Chambers..

Not in Colchester’s squad today, but had been said he’s injured.
The third Lisbie son on Colchester’s bench.0 -
If I wanted to be nefarious I might suggest that Colchester have been told not to pick him while we negotiate with Brighton3

He did come off midway through a match with an injury though which adds in a layer of complicationCallumcafc said:If I wanted to be nefarious I might suggest that Colchester have been told not to pick him while we negotiate with Brighton4 -
Depending on the severity of Leaburn’s injury today, Mbick might still have a part to play in our season. What odds on a sale to Brighton with a loan back for the rest of the season?1
-
Didn’t their manager say the other day though that he’d been fit for the weekend? For what it’s worth I think he’ll be sold by the deadline. Just my opinion though.fenaddick said:

He said he hoped he would be I think. I don’t think he goes but wouldn’t be surprised if we asked for him not to play just in caseLargeAddick said:

Wouldn’t bet against him being at Sparrows Lane during the next 48 hours to be assessed by our medical team.0

Rather we keep him... Kanu and Mbick could be a perfect big man, little man combo for us for years to come. Wouldn't take less than 5 mill with a 20% sell-on fee2

I have a feeling your minimum request will be where we end up. I really like Micah and hope he stays but think we may end up letting him leave, after recent comments from NJ on Thursday.CAFCsayer said:Rather we keep him... What terrible thing did he do to you to suggest such a thing? He’ll be out for a year!Isawsummersplay said:Wouldn’t bet against him being at Sparrows Lane during the next 48 hours to be assessed by our medical team.0 -
We don’t have time to effectively use the money we would receive to spend this window. Were being offered 3.5M now I’d rather risk the 3.5M now then the 10-15M he could be worth if he bags goals in the championship next season assuming we do stay up.CAFCsayer said:Rather we keep him... If Miles’ injury puts him out for a while I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mbick recalled3

Nah. We have plenty of cover up frontfenaddick said:If Miles’ injury puts him out for a while I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mbick recalled0 -
Not in the target man role, we’d be back to just one option there which is exactly why we brought Dykes inBedsaddick said:

Agreed would need that option of a big target man up top.fenaddick said:

No way is he ready to be a target man in the Championship.
Leave him where he is to develop or, if the money is good enough and we can use it now, sell him to Brighton.5 -
I don’t think he is either but it might strengthen our hand in keeping him which might be worth itsuperclive98 said:No way is he ready to be a target man in the Championship.
