Cawley’s latest article has more quotes from NJ about deadline day. Sounds like we’ve done the deals we needed to, so as mentioned they want to bring forward summer recruitment if possible.

Sichenje fits that, as he’ll likely need time to settle in. Hopefully we get 2/3 in. Wouldn’t be surprised if Sichenje isn’t the only one from abroad.
I think you're bang on the money, think we could be in for a busy and quite exciting day. 2-3 ins wouldn't surprise me from how NJ was talking.

Find Anderson an interesting conundrum, he needs more game time to improve but as much as he’s has bad games this season he’s also had good ones. The other thing is because of his age he won’t take up a squad place and because he’s an academy talent he’ll be on a much lower wage. In terms of squad building and having bodies around the building, loaning him out doesn’t make much sense. In terms of development it probably does.

Bringing forward summer targets makes me wonder if someone other than Colins that we didn't think would be available is now available and we're going to do it.
Implies to me that if we do then they will be tangible upgrades. Summer dealing would usually or at least hopefully be players that will improve the first eleven. We definitely don’t need more squad fillers.

also implies we think can confidently and realistically sell ourselves as a Championship squad

We have four loans already so two more wouldn't be sensible unless we convert one into a permanant deal.

That could be part of what Jones means by "bringing forward our summer business"

Maybe Clarke will be made into a perm?

    Or Coady

Is expect that Coady would be on a fair amount more than Clarke. Both would have to reduce their wages by a significant percentage

I really hope so. Matty another year older by next season and will need replacing. Keillor Dunn probably needs to move on now or never.

True but he might prefer a longer deal at a lower wage.  WIOTOS

Although a nice idea can't see it happening

Clarke: Ipswich very much using this loan to see if he's fit and how good he is, they have a years option on his contract and would likely use him if they don't go up

Chambers: Unclear when his Liverpool deal expires but if they think they're going to sell in the summer they tend to make them sign a contract before being let out

Coady & Fevrier: Signed so recently it wouldn't make sense at all.

I have a sneaky suspicion he just means trying to buy Bree which would be disappointing. Sichenje is probably also a summer signing as I think we didn't plan to look abroad this season

Don’t disagree but I was impressed with how sharp Godden looked yesterday.

He did but he’s 35 in July and expecting him to be constantly available next season hopefully in The Championship is a tall order for him and shortsighted by us. Certainly an asset as a bit part player but I’d like to think we have a replacement in mind.

I would think that Chambers hasn't yet reached his potential at Liverpool due to injury, so they would keep him but if I were Charlton I would certainly ask about the possibility of a further loan deal and it would be worth, from what we've seen so far, paying a sizeable chunk of his wages to secure that deal. I think there will be a lot of movement if we remain in this division as we continue to transform the squad from upper division one to upper championship potential.

As NJ said  on Thursday opportunity has arisen …. so there might be a surprise , but no good NJ doing his summer shopping now … can’t go through the summer months reading people moaning and groaning that we not signed anyone , what’s going on , no ambition etc etc

Weirdly I still feel until JRS signs on the dotted line somewhere we are in with a chance. I get the feeling if he could go anywhere it would be back with us.

I think Anderson could be a good water carrier for coady if we are playing him in midfield. Coady can’t run but can pass, Anderson can’t pass but can run.

I’m hoping we’re looking at signing a player that can manage both.

If Fullah isn't going to play he might benefit from a loan for remainder of season

If Carey's injured or needs a rest that'll likely mean starting Berry, so we'd need Fullah on the bench, or the other way around.

Like Anderson it's difficult because we need the depth but they need game time.

What would the point be? I don’t understand why so many  keep holding onto the thought of bringing him back in, when we don’t have a set up available for him to play in

He is not good enough at the moment to stop us getting relegated. A loan would be preferred

From Cawley, and why fixing our defence is so critical
"Charlton have kept nine clean sheets in the league, a total only bettered by three clubs on 11 - Bristol City, Stoke City and Millwall - as well as Ipswich Town (10). All but one of their Championship wins have been when recording a shutout"
