He's not been the same player since the sending off for me. Like he's lost some confidence

He slightly reminds me of Kyle Walker, in that he uses his pace to compensate for the occasional poor control or positioning.

In L1 this worked, but in the Championship he's up against faster and cleverer opponents, so isn't getting away with these errors.

Think Collins will come into the team earlier than expected. Stevie Wonder can see that Ramsay just isn't in good form and is becoming a liability.

Good player but let him take some games on the bench, recharge and come out with a point to prove.
I expect Collins has been signed to replace Ramsay getting sold in the summer since he won't sign a new contract.
The way he’s playing I can’t see a queue for his signature.

It’s so glaringly obvious when Bell also does the same thing but a millions times better on the other side of the pitch. I think Bell can read the danger better too

I struggle to see a side much higher than us in the food chain signing him

Other clubs won’t only be looking at this recent run of form, they’ll have also seen him at his best (easy to forget but we did see that at this level earlier this season) and what they think they can get out of him.

At his best he’s quick, strong, comfortable on the ball, a great tackler and a decent passer. There will be interest in him, especially in another year when his contract is running down.

Definitely. Hes a quality player on bad run of form.

He frightens the hell out of me when he is the last man on defense with the ball….especially when he tries to beat a man…a little too nonchalant at times…he is physically gifted…fast, strong

He looked it in League One, but I think he’s struggled with the physicality of the championship throughout the season.

Has really struggled this season post the Millwall sending off

looks way off the pace in games. Concentrates more on wrestling his man rather than actually playing the ball.

been a real disappointment so far as I was expecting him to be one of those that made the step up with ease after last season

I don't think he's particularly fast or strong in this division, and he's realising that, and that's the problem.

Yes this is what I think, almost a bit of misplaced over confidence. He will be fine but needs to knuckle down a bit.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Like a lot of our players he’s adapting to a step up in quality of opposition, has lost the surprise element as he’s now faced most teams and been watched by all the tactical analysts/scouts multiple times, and reality is biting as to the relentlessness of this division and the standard and effort required week after week to keep getting results.

He’s just one of a number struggling a bit with the reality of this division and a squad wide dip in confidence.

Maybe his contract situation plays into it as well.

However, we all know the attributes he has in his locker. At his best he makes it look easy and some of our opponents this season will have noted that.

I’ve little doubt he’ll be back and will eventually settle in to be a very good Championship level defender. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a promotion to the Premier League on his CV one day.

Hopefully it’s with us, but I do get the feeling he will take his chances in the Bosman market this summer and Collins is earmarked as his replacement.

You’re right, he signed a three and a half year contract in Jan 2024. So why is everyone talking like he’s out if contract this summer?

Imagine its because the longer we leave it to sell him, the less we'll get because he can run down his Contract, leave on a free and we end up with nothing at all for him.
So there is a bit of 2+2 = 5 going on, with Collins signed to replace him, when he's "sold" in the summer. Yet he could also have been signed to replace Burke.
  • Convinced he’s carrying an injury and hasn’t fully recovered from when he was out, Very odd he’s dropped off so much and looks a little shakey on the ball/seems to not have the quality when shielding he usually has

He's definitely a confidence player, and he doesn't have much atm.

We know what he can do so a dip in form shouldn't be a worry. It could be an opportunity to help us keep him. Every cloud.

Part of a back 3 that kept 2 clean sheets on bounce.. yes, hasn’t been at his best, but even then he is still one of the best around as ride sided CB of back 3

I really don't think its 2+2=5. Ramsay would have signed a new contract by now if he was going to, I think we were trying. We haven't spent good money on Collins with the intentions of being a backup (although thats where all the other big money signings we've made have ended up!).

Agreed. Other than that one horrendous moment involving Kaminski, he was a decent part of a clean sheet on Friday.

He was an ever present in League one and built up that consistency with his power and strength. He’s not quite had that this season. But I think there are signs it’s coming back.

I thought he had a good game away to Leicester last week, he isn't showing the same consistency as last season but apart from Lloyd Jones nobody is tbf.

Don’t think Ramsey performances have changed that much once again the Charlton fans have gone way over the top on a player that not as good as they believe .. like so many not just ours but other clubs … where players are to good for league one but not quite good enough for the championship .. there sort of stuck in the middle that’s why you seen so many yo-yo clubs …. Last season Ramsey mis-comings were not punished… and he had the pace to get himself out of it.

Ramsey needs to keep it simple stop trying to be clever and just lump it clear at times ..

Not sure we’ve been that organised with contracts in the last decade or so. Lloyd Jones only signed a new one with 6 months left and apart from academy graduates I can’t think of others we’ve got sorted earlier than strictly necessary.

Not really. He had a horrific clearing header that went straight to one of their players in a dangerous area, he played a totally unnecessary crossfield pass that he got wrong and set up a counter for QPR and he was comically deep at the end during that chance that Kaminski saved, which is a problem he's had for as long as he's been playing centre back for us (especially shown in the away game at Wrexham last season) and doesn't seem to have improved on. He's young, he'll improve and it wasn't a total disaster of a performance but at times we kept that clean sheet in spite of him. He needs a bit more time on the basics of being a central defender especially now that his pace can't bail him out every time like it did in L1

Still think he is our player with the highest ceiling... Has all of the attributes to play at a higher level, just needs to learn that he can't overplay at this level and get away with it by bouncing players off of him and doing them for pace every time. He is only just 25 aswell

Think where the defence has been so mismatch throughout the season, it’s not particularly helped his game. He’s had Apter, Bree, and Clarke all next to him on that side, he’s also played left back a couple of times. In 30 games it’s a lot of change. I do also think he’s not been the same since the sending off back in September, but we have seen his quality in a number of games since, just not at the consistency we had come to expect.

Last season he got away with so much because he could recover with strength, pace and that quality tackling he has. This season players are more clever and have more about them. With that, Ramsay has had to improve areas and that isn’t going to be a quick thing, there are elements that he needs to improve, his concentration and anticipation. He didn’t need to have loads of it before but he does now.

I think if he signs a new contract, we’ll see a marked improvement in his performances and he can kick on again. The longer that drags on, the more I see him being sold in the summer because the club are not going to let assets run into the last 12 months without confidence that we can sort something out.
